Or as I like to call it the Trynottoslideofftheroad Rallye, yes it has returned, no I do not have a route planned. . . Yet. If you're intereseted, go ahead and put aside a few hours and see what those snow tires can really do (or can't do).
The plan is to meet at the Park-n-Ride off on Wadsworth off of Hwy 36
We'll stop for lunch in Winter Park at Smokin Moe's

Actually a bit farther South, think warmer.
Is this ride going to have a calendar entry here at NAM or just Facebook?
I would love to see a hint of a route map or some points of interest along the way. (hint)....

You should see the calendar entry showing up any time now, they take more time.
Any suggestions for points of interest? Or slippery slopes?

Well!
I have been drafted, so I did a route for Joe. Let's see what he has to say.
Do you all prefer a 6 hour drive or a 3 hour drive? Could be either or both.

But it will be twisty, fun and fast.....

I am ready....
I set the return route so folks will have to option of doing C103 the Western Dragon (not to be missed) or motoring back into Denver direct.
End point is Bergen Park in Evergreen, so folks can split for home or continue on to dinner if they want.
Lots more twisty miles going south or north from the end point.
I'm sure I will still be full of BBQ from WP. But I might decide to coffee up in Bergen.
When we go up to Peak to Peak I may make a piece of the route optional, I have to drive one of the alternate roads to make sure it is good and pretty dirt free.

So....... What do all you icicle rallye folks feel about dirt?

I will put up a picture a bit later and an optional (I say optional) neato drive on the first leg of this little adventure.
Just pulled in to the drive after my route check.

It was said with a large (very large) Cheshire grin.

This dirt is on Gap Road that goes to 119 via Twin Spruce Road off of Hwy. 72.
Not a bad stretch, just hard mountain clay, a little wet with snow runoff, a tiny bit of light pea gravel/pebbles.

The dirt accesses the north side of Golden Gate Canyon State Park. A very pretty area.
As you can see pretty nice road, not for radically lowered MINIs, but very do-able.

I did not take the MINI.
But I did take the Ford, not with all this snow in tow.

A snap of the alternate route map: If anyone is interested, we can discuss on Sunday AM before we head out at 10....

Well?
