Changing a fog lamp bulb

I am going to replace the standard fog lamp bulbs on my 2009 MINI Cooper Clubman S with Hoen Super Endurance H8's. I have not been able to find the directions to replace these bulbs anywhere. I have heard several reports of having difficulty getting the bulbs out. I am not sure how to even get access to them. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks -

There is a thread just a few down form this one so you must not have looked very hard.

The thread title is "Front Fog Lamp Bulbs"

There instructions in the thread and BTW there are instructions in the manual.

After pulling the access cover, unplug the fog lamp bulb (lower one). you do this by squeezing the tabs on each side, nearest the wires, and wiggle a bit to unplug. Once it's unplugged, just grab the plug housing of the bulb, twist it counter-clockwise. It'll turn maybe 45 degrees, and you'll feel it "unlock" as it were. These are H8 bulbs, they're keyed with 3 metal tabs that lock in place when turning clockwise to install. The base of the bulb also has an orange rubber gasket, that might hang just a bit, but not much if at all.

Changing a fog lamp

Thanks for taking the time to cut and paste this information from a previous post. I had previously read much of this thread without finding this specific part.

I should receive my Hoen Endurance Yellow fog light bulbs later this week.

Changing a fog lamp

I will definitely post a photo as soon as I can get them installed. Yours look great, and provide the kind of visibility I am looking for.

Where did you order them?

Both my daytime running fog lights and switch fog lights die.

I want to get replacement but I don't want OEM.

I originally found them on Outmotoring for $76, but I ended up searching the part # 18235 on Google and found them on Amazon for $57 + free shipping.

I don't know, but stock factory xenon headlights are 4300K. Standard bulbs are typically in the range from mid to upper 3000's.

This color range is not good for fog. They generate too much glare. You would be better off with he std color or yellow for reduced glare.

Thanks, yeah I know. I wanted something a little brighter since my headlights are tinted. I run the fogs everytime I have the headlights on. I don't really experience fog here in Jersey, so it's not as crucial.

@Richieb0y28

Do you mind taking a picture of the FOG lights? Are they really close to OEM Xenos?

I'll try taking a pic and uploading this weekend. They are a little whiter and brighter than oem fogs, but they don't resemble anything close to the oem xenons.

Just found this thread looking for tips on how to change out the fog lights. The post by Wolfeee helped quite a bit. As easy as it sounds, i wasn't able to do it until i read his post :p

Anyways, thought i'd share what i did. I bought Philips Crystal Vision Ultras for the headlights and Nokya 2500K bulbs for the fogs. I like the color output of both. The Crystal Visions give off a nice clean white light, despite the blue tint to the bulbs and the Nokyas give a nice deep yellow.

Sorry for the crappy iphone pics with all the glare. Best i could do.

And one with the Driving Lights on:

Bump! ...and H8--->H11 R56?

Good day, all! Thanks for the ongoing dialogue and assistance within this site. To resurrect this 4 yr old thread...

I ordered some H11s to replace the OEM Philips H8s in my '07 R56 fog lights. Apparently, they fit the convertible, but not the hatch. The 3 locking tabs (on the light bulb fixture) that fit into the notches in the fog lamp housing are slightly different between the 2 bulbs. I would have thought a standard opening for both would suffice (many sites list H8 & H11 as interchangeable,) but alas, I am mistaken. So, is it futile to try to bend/cut/*fix* the tabs to fit or am I stuck with H8s?

PS, I noticed some pricing throughout this page. I use RockAuto and it smokes Oreilly's, Amazon, Ebay, etc. Just FYI.

Thanks again for your time and help!
