FRAKKIN SUV DRIVIN 50 IQ MOUTH BREATHERS!

Someone in a tall moronic oversized behemoth Earth-Killer clipped my Clubman in a parking lot. Clearly parking 1/2 a mile from the nearest car isn't good enough.

Not sure how many $100 hours it will take BMW to replace this $130 part, but I'm guessing 1-2, plus some buffing/painting on the bumper skin and the light lens.

There's a nick 1/2 way up the silver corner. Must have been a jacked up Escalade driving a-hole.

I feel your pain. Sorry lad.

As far as "Earth Killers" go there is nothing worse than a NiCad battery toting Toyota Prius on our roads today. Just ask anyone living near the strip mines in Canada where the nickle comes from.....or the fish who suck in the mercury dumped into our Oceans coming from the smoke stacks on these barges travelling back and forth to Whales where they smelt the rock.....

Any chance the store where this happend has DVR CCTV.

That looks very painful, I would try to claim that on insurance. If you don't claim often, then I would imagine your premiums should be fine.

And what's wrong with mouth breathers???

Oh man, sorry to hear about that. I'd be incredibly irate as well. The fact is that the majority of people simply don't know how to drive properly; if they did we would rarely have accidents or situations like this.

How do you know it was a "behemoth Earth-Killer"? If it was a "behemoth Earth-Killer" I would think the damage would have been up higher and worse. Anyway, sorry some A-hole did this and didn't have the dignity to leave you a note or phone number.

Some people does not care about others, f... selfish people... that is the reason our society have so many problems!

Sorry that happen to you taysan, but if it make you feel better, those kind of bastards always get what they deserve... sooner or later (remember, they still don't know how to drive or park! and I think you are been to generous with the IQ quote)

I'm presuming it was a large oversized SUV type thing as there is a nick 1/2 way up the taillight - total span of damage is a good 12 inches or so top to bottom.

If it had been a car, damage would have been contained to the bumper alone (which is why all our bumpers are at about the same height).

Icing on the cake is that this trim piece (part 51132756561) costs $136 from AllMiniParts in the US, $165 at a US MINI dealer and a whopping $250 in Canada. This is par for the course with BMW. I regularly drive to NY State to buy parts for my 1975 BMW R75/6.

So I'll be having a look at the part tonight to see if I can replace it myself. If so, I'll be ordering the part from the US.

My insurance deductible is way too high to justify spending the extra money. Sure, my bumper won't be repainted, but I have body-shop friends who might be able to help me out with some buffing.

Well I may be rolling the dice and going through my insurance. I had forgotten that I have a 'dissapearing deductible' which means that every year that goes by, my deductible reduces by 20%.

It's normally $1000, but currently stands at $200 because I've been claim free for 4 years. As it wasn't my fault, the only impact to my policy is my deductible goes back to $1000.

I could wait 8 months till my policy renews and my deductible will go to $0... tempting Or I might just replace the part myself for the same $200 and leave my policy alone. It would be nice to have the bumper taken care of though, which will only be done through insurance.

Decisions decisions. I'm at BMW next Monday morning to get an estimate.
