R56 New Job Less Mini
New Job Less Mini
So after several interviews and even a denial, i have found new employment. Going from Public school IT guy to Private sector consultant. The down side? I will be travel 4 to 5 days a week so i won't be able to drive the mini nearly as much!
I start in 4 weeks. Gotta get lots of motoring done!

Well congrats on the new job.
With things like they are right now, ya gotta take whatever you can get.
Look at it this way ... the amount of time you'll be spending away from home will make you appreciate your MINI that much more!

2 years ago I sold my Jeep (that I had owned for 13yrs) when gas hit $4+ a gallon. At only 16mpg the jeep was costing me about $400 in gas per month, -my daily commute was 60 miles per day.
I sold my jeep and bought a MINI. literally about a week before I picked up my MINI i was let go from my job (it was just before the economy went down the tubes). In the past year and a half I've been doing consulting work and making more than I was at any full-time job I've ever had. Funny thing, gas went back down, and I now work from home and rarely have to commute ...so my MINI only has 4k miles on it and is almost 2yrs old!
Anyway, congrats on the new job, ...I think when economies are bad and employers don't want to commit you need to roll with it and make the best out of contracting/consulting jobs. I've managed to acquire 4 clients that keep me very busy now. No reason why you can't keep looking for more consulting work to add to the new job you have.

Since i won't be home during the week I am thinking of just leaving it at my parents house. Since i moved to hoboken last year and i don't have a garage. Leaving it the parents makes much more sense. Plus this way my mom doesn't have to get a new car like she thought for her 1.3 mile commute.
