Xtreme Bi-Xenon HID H13/2008 Kit in 08 Cooper questions.

I installed the Xtreme brand mechanical bi-xenon hid h13 kit in my 08 cooper. The installation took longer than the estimated 2 hours and required a phone call to the seller. The wiring diagram provided does not match the wiring harness given, but once I discussed this with the seller, wiring was completed. The hardest part was where to find a place to put the ballasts, they are rectangular and approx. 3"x4" and 1 1/4" thick. So now to my questions....

When I start the engine, the headlights flash like a strobe light 6-9 times, and of course I get the headlamp bulb out computer alert. I have tried starting the car with the autoheadlights off and the same thing happens. I even try turning everything else electrical off before I shut down the engine for next start and still this happens. Any help?

I know this is something you do not want to hear but here you go.

The problems you have are only some of the reasons why this is not a recommended procedure.

IF you search there are some posts with links that have a site where you can get yet more parts that should (but not guaranteed) to fix the problems.

Some have reported success and ohter have reported taking out the parts and returning to OEM for the car as the problems could not be resolved.

ok i installed my bi-xenons also and they are awesome..the thing is with the bulb out eliminators the hids will work but you'll still get the error. so its a win/fail situation. you get the nice output with an error.

Hey guys Check out the thread, 9 threads down. Jcalos14 got a kit off ebay that works with no bulb outs, costs 100.00 and basically works flawlessly. I should have listened to him. I got a kit through a friend and just tried it out. It has a very elaborate relay harness. After I figured out what went where, I knew it was not going to work without a bulb out warning, because it controls high and low beam from one headlight input, the other is open, hence the bulb out alarm. I hope I can catch up to Jcarlos14 to get the exact seller so I can make an exchange. On a positive note the pattern is sharp (no glare, minimal hot spots), bright, 6000K looks good, there is no warm up on the highbeam, no flickering or buzzing. It is well worth the 120.00. No way are the factory projectors 5 times better.
