R56 My new MCS!!!!!!......
My new MCS!!!!!!......
Well not really new, but new to me!!! It's a 2007 6 speed with the sport and cold weather packages.
My last car was a 2006 VW GTI and this car is soooo much more fun to toss around. The interior is not as nice or as classy as the GTI's, but in my opinion the "dinner plate" speedo, and the toggle switches just add to the character of the car.
I am also new to the forums and look forward to learning as much as I can about this awesome car.

Now there's a coincidence - just yesterday, I traded my GTI in on a new MCS. I'd driven the GTI (VR6) since I bought it new in '98, so it was a friend of long standing, and it hurt a little bit to walk away from it. But every time I drive the MINI, I'm just thrilled all silly. It's going to be fun!

Congratulations, nice first picture, lots of snow.
Are you planning a full set of snow tires or were you able to motor about without any issues?
More pictures. Enjoy your MINI, we enjoy ours.

Looks like you have understated your car. You have Xenon's (didn't come in the Sport's Package) and Premium Package also for sure. The web spoke wheels are a $500 option on top of the Sport's Package. Chili/White with black sunroofs is a nice color combo.

Do you have any pictures of the GTI's classy interior?
Welcome to NAM!
I just had to post in here...its funny when you talk/read a lot of peoples posts, it seems a significant amount (enough to not ignore) came from the VW scene. Mine was the heavily modded, Im insane for spending this much money on it scene, but still lol.
Im like you, I used to think I would miss my Corrado, but everytime I see my MINI and drive it I am soooo much happier!

This made me
My other choice for a new car was a GTI. It was either an 06 GTI or an 06 Cooper S. MAN am I glad I got the last of the supercharged!!
But on the contrary, I hate to say it, I might be going in REVERSE. The VW R20 is putting my baby on a run for its money... It'd be the perfect "growing up" car for me but the question is, do I really want to grow up and stop having "MINI-sized fun"? I know the MINI will always be apart of my heart, it is too much fun. But dollar for dollar is what walks in this economy and if this cougar is priced right, she's all mine.
270 hp?!?! AWD?!
vs. R60(???)
Perhaps both cars are fabled myths but we'll see!! I am going to enjoy my R53 real well this year just in case...

VW is rumored to be taking the 2.0-liter turbo four that’s already going into the GTI and increase the boost to yield 270 hp (20 more than the R32.) The technology for this one (tentatively called the R20) should be plenty cheep, too. The car will likely using mechanics already at work in the Audi S3, which means all-wheel drive is still on the table.

Nice! Another VW convert, but I went from MINI, to VW, back to MINI. Still have a MkV GTI in the stable to compare. The MINI's tranny definitely isn't as buttery smooth as the GTIs, and the interior isn't as "luxurious," but I don't regret getting rid of my GTI for a second. They are very different cars while sharing the hot hatch moniker. I'm just glad we're lucky enough to have both to play with.
Now if I can only convince him to trade in on a Golf R next year! But then he'll smoke me every time....

It is no longer rumored. It is on sale in Europe and called the Golf R. Should be available in US in Spring 2010 and will be called the GTI-R here. Lower, stiffer, and sharper than the GTI. Could be a winner.
my only hope is that they offer it with the manual. the dsg is nice, but to me it's not worth the money if you don't use your left foot...
I had an '04 .:R32, never should have sold it. Awesome car, rare, unique.
I'm not sure. I don't really see how a crossover type vehicle would be designed to compete with a beefy hot hatch.
