It changes with the brightness of your gauge lighting. I wish I could make it brighter without making the dash brighter.

Multi-colored LEDs?

 

I never heard of anyone messing with the bulbs in the ambient lighting in any way. They do make different one and colors for the other interior lights (map, overhead, footlights, glovebox, boot).

 

when my 09 was getting the tune kit installed I had an 08 MC loaner overnite, and the ambients were MUCH brighter in that car than mine. I wonder if they're using lower wattage LEDs now?

 

The ambient lighting in the door handles and pillars consists of two color LEDs and are custom packaging made for MINI/BMW. There is not way to just change the LED's to make them brighter or change to other colors.

Now if you want to add other LED's to things like the air vents, cup holders etc that is rather easy to do.
