Boost Gauge Wiring R56

I have installed a new Marshall Boost gauge in my R56 mini.
Working fine, but lighting is not.
Listed below is my wiring using a Alta install guide:
Gauge = Red, White, Orange, Black
Instructions= Red to OBDII (Red w Blue Strip & Yellow Hatch)
Black to Cigirette Lighter
Orange to DSC (I have a ASC) to Gray/Red
White = Not Connected
The connection does not work at all when lights are "ON".
When first opening my Mini I get "Illumination" lights on & the gauge does show Amber, but is blinking/flickering only.

What am I doing wrong?

Hmm. I have all of my wiring plugged in.

Red was to OBDII as mentioned, black is a ground (on the cig lighter). White I believe HAS to be used in order for it to work properly (its like a remote 12v turn on for a stereo amp). White I have into the other wire for the cig lighter....and the orange goes to the DSC illumination wire.

This caused my gauge to be white during the day, and reddish/orange at night.

Use your white wire on the power for the cig lighter, and you will be all set.

Mine is wired with the red and black (power and ground) off the cig. lighter. The orange wire for the illumination is off the dsc. You do not need to use the white wire. I've capped mine.

I did not use the OBDII wire for the power. Works flawlessly the way I have it.

Rowdy, I did try the prior members suggestion, but I don't really like the gauge lighting on all the time during the day.(white LED)
To be clear, your are connected to Cig. lighter with BLACK to Cig BROWN and RED to Cig + and capped the WHITE?
(I have ORANGE to DSC gray/red for illumination)
Thanks for replies.

Well, your gauge is going to have to have some sort of lighting in order for it to power properly. Unless you are wanting it the orange/reddish color at all times with lights on/off.

Basically, it has to be one color or another lol. If you want it the red color at all times while your car is on instead of white, just use the orange wire to the power for the cig (where your white is currently connected) and cap the white.

I hope that makes sense. I found this info in the alta install instructions for the gauge. Putting the orange wire to the power for cig, and capping white would make the gauge red at all times

Well I finally got it all worked out.
Used the OBDII contact for "Power" and it had a bad "T" connector.
Swapped it out and reset connections to Cig Lighter for "Black" to Brown, Removed "White" and capped it off.
Orange is to the DSC gray/red so I have my amber light only when enter lights go on or head lights come on.
Thanks to everyone for your input.

Perfect! Glad you got it sorted out. I had a bad contact on the illumination wire(orange connected to dsc) initially as well which was causing spoaradic lighting. Post some pictures

I just wired mine all up and amazingly the lights all work! There is one small problem, the boost gauge goes all the way over the right and it won't stop beeping at me. I have tried pushing the button in the middle but it won't stop!! Any help?
