Can the mini receive iphone 3gs audio over bluetooth?

In spec'ing out a future mini... what option(s) allow the ipod to send audio to the mini audio system over bluetooth?

And, when doing so, does the mini have any ipod-control over the iphone? (next, prev, play, playlists, etc.?)

related threads don't focus on whether you get to control audio playback (track next/prev vs seeing playlists on the center screen...)

p.s. I would not get the nav system, so I'm talking about the integration along with the "led display" thing.

You are looking for A2DP support. MINI does not support this profile for any phone

Bingo, A2DP. Ok, so there's no option that can do that, got it!

I actually tend to use an ipod in the car at all times, my iphone is on me, so it's not a deal-breaker

You can get an option called smartphone prep that will allow your iPhone to play audio via a cradle/sleeve (additional purchase) in the armrest. So while your iphone is in the cradle it will play audio via the standard USB based system, you can make and receive calls via bluetooth, the signal is supposed to be boosted and the iphone will charge.

See this thread for lots of details:

Right. That was already stated. No A2DP. So knowing that I gave the only other option to get iPhone music to the audio system which is Smartphone prep or just plug it into the USB/audio cable.

For stereo sound to go over bluetooth the device needs to have the A2DP BT profile. While the iphone supports that, the car does not. So you need to use the cable to hook up to the car. You do get controls but i find that using the Mini controls are cumbersome to navigate playlists and artists.

I have an I phone 3G, and smart phone arm rest. My phone makes phone calls just fine. And the phone book is on the radio display, and the voice dialing works good.
However the phone does not charge, and it will not play music like an I pod.I do have the I pod option so i can use this separate of the phone. I have a service at the dealer tomorrow for the charging problem. They said that mini has a new cable for the them to install, that may be the fix for the charging problem.

I would love to hear if the new cable works or not. I quit using my iphone for music because of the annoying not-an-authorized-apple-product alert.

Ok,
Just got home from the dealer. It turns out that I did not need a new cable.
The snap in adapter was not installed correctly. They took it out and reinstalled it. Now the phone does charge! However it will not play music like an I pod. The dealer told me they have had a lot of people with this one problem. And that they may never have a fix for it. It could to do with the operating system version. I have 3.1.2 and Mini does not recognize any thing over 3.0.0. So I will just use my I pod separately from my phone.

Sheesh, glad I passed on the armrest/snap-in adapter. Mine's working fine via the Y-cable, including all functionality properly displayed on the nav screen, and proper charging.. and I'm running 3.1.2.

I have a iPhone 3GS (3.1.2 JailBroken) and i get the alert but the phone doesn't charge once dismissed. Kind of a bummer, but honestly i never found the iPod navigation all that great via the stereo (non nav). But i would like to free up the cig lighter for other things besides charging my iPhone ALL the time.
