I don't get teased by anyone who has been for a ride with me on a twisty road.

I have an MC, but a buddy thumbs his nose at JCW by wondering why anyone would "dress up a pig" instead of spending that $40k on a car built for performance from the ground up.

Cause for 40K you get a practical and awesomely sporty fun car. WITH a Boot! If you buy a corvette you don't really get a trunk, but you will go faster.

"Did you get one for each foot?" "Look, the Hummer got a pet!"
Yea, I heard a few.

Screw the idiots, if it said BMW on it they'd be falling all over themselves to discuss the sharp handling and acceleration.

So far not a word, but as I am generally going past them, probably just can't hear them.

Never

I belong to a couple of car clubs. I have never been teased or really never have heard anything but compliments on my 2009 JCW.
My friends drive Porsche's, Audi's and Corvette's. They are all great cars and my Mini is accepted by all of my friends.
It seems that people that are into cars know all about the Mini Coopers and have a lot of respect for them.

Oh, yeah. I forgot about the guy at work who said he didn't know I moonlighted at the circus and asked how many clowns fit in there. I know. I know. Playing pretty rough.

Your buddy is a wise man with an excellent question. Spending $40k on a MINI makes absolutely no sense. There is no way to rationalize it. I know people on this thread will try.

Oh, and I get teased mercilessly about driving a MINI. The general perception among hetero males is that it is a car for women and gay men. They may be right...

I have a friend that gets teased for having a Justacoop but I've never been teased for owning a Mini Cooper S. The S actually gets respect out there.

I've never had anything but compliments. But, when I drove my wife's VW Beetle convertible....that's a different story.

I proudly blast Culture Club tunes from my little S in traffic. To old to care what people think.

They always make fun of it here near the border (South Texas).... until they have a ride or try to keep up on the S-Curves over here.

Had a guy tell me today, "Man, I take back all those things I said about your car. Nothing but respect now!"

That was a good moment! :-)

I heard the questions about how did I fit inside the "clown car" until I took my biggest co-worker out for a spin. Just getting in he was blown away with the room inside the Mini after the turns he was shocked at how well the car handled. Conversations ended at this point as to the size of my car..

The only people that ever give me crap are corvette owners. I remind them which of our cars has a faster slalom time. And which one cost less and looks better. And which one does not scream mid-life crisis. And which one is not a POS.

If they persist I tell them to go do a barrel roll like a good american car should.

Seems now most people that know even a little bit about cars (and are not ignorant or american car fanboys) know what this car is capable of and what it can wipe the floor with so they mind their own. If a stupid person says something about my car I laugh at the joke of a car they are driving and they cry. End of story.

Only by a select few people who I allow to do so. They're mostly SUV owners and it's harmless.

I like what cooperS2000 said " i dont drive this car for your approval or anyone elses.... its for ME" .That's what it is all about. For whatever reason you own a Mini, it's your business, not their's. With the price of gas going up the guys who are 'teasing' you may have to park their dinosaurs and stay home in their caves , while you keep Motoring On!

Your sig pic is great. I got put face down on the ramp at Eglin once when my AF brother-in-law decided that the break in the red line at the vehicle entrance meant it was OK to walk on the road between the hangars and the aircraft.

Back to the pic, classy.
