Drew,

good thing you didn't get a Prius. No amount of mods would de-gay that car.

Never thought of a Prius as a gay car. It is a politically correct, holier than thou car. The though of racing stripes on a Prius...

Have you seen the new Insight. I've seen pics of it with a rear spoiler.

Hahaha I love that the only sound that car makes is its squealing tires.

My typical response to these sorts of kiddings are:

I'll take you for a ride if you go get your HANS device and an adult diaper. Then most of them say, "What's a HANS device".

Not teased, but most everyone thinks I got the MINI for the "gas-savings" -- if they only knew...actually I never knew MINIs got such high mpg until the day I was at the dealer buying one.

Or they an put my car in their back pocket

Or they can carry my mini in there truck

But it is all in fun because when on day one to the job it was all OOOs ans Ahaas about it and ever once in a while i see that one trucker taking a peek inside....i am sure they are wishing for a drive

I honestly think there are more and more people all the time that wish they could have one but do not and are jealous to tell you the truth. I have had everyone from 16 year olds to 65 year old Harley Davidson riders looking at my car in my works parking lot and around town and there is always a ton of interest. Most of my buddies that make fun of me get in it and say "wow, this has a lot more room than expected", or"damn this thing flies with such a little motor", etc.

Same story for me. Everyone's got jokes, but when it comes down to it, they admit how much it "grows" on them. They liked it all along, they were just to afraid to admit it, lol. Some of them want one now. Another fine reason why I didn't want a WRX or an Evo. Dime a dozen around here.

i normally don't wade into political-socio-economic discussions on NAM but i will here, if only to raise a hand in solidarity with minicooperwill.

it's a shame in today's age that it's still often acceptable to indicate the inferiority of someone or something by using an adjective indicating that someone or something isn't masculine/tumescent/virile/heterosexual enough.

most of the guys on NAM have demonstrated themselves to be open-minded, progressive men who really don't have to prove security in their identity by debasing and degrading others. it's a shame that those who aren't so self-assured reduce themselves further by using words like "de-gay."

That's a good read! lol Had to chuckle at it. Lord knows I didn't buy a MINI to be masculine or... prove myself to be any other one of those words you said.

What does this mean? Gay men aren't real?

All these "gay car" postings are inane.

I've been driving a Miata for 16 years so when I added a Cooper S a couple of years ago my friends were pretty much well out of jokes. I only have to offer a ride to quiet any new commentary.

The only gay comments I've gotten about the MINI have been from gay friends. I suppose I should let them know that's offensive.

I've known of a few "homosexuals" to own muscle cars too, so whatever makes a car "gay", I don't know...

And yes, I'm very happy in my MINI.

I think it is when a car wants to have sex with another car just like it. So if you see 2 MINIs VERY close together......

if your ability for comprehension limits you so much that you completely miss the point that minicooperwill and i are making, then yes, you're completely incapable of coming to any other conclusion.

Well, I tell people you pick up girls with a girl's car, and a man with a man's car!

Also, I gave a buddy from work (he drives an F350 Diesel with a huge lift) a spin and he very much enjoyed it. He commented, "Man, and I thought this was a four cylinder!" I politely corrected him by emphasizing the 1.6L Inline Four it has... or roughly 98 cubic inches! He was amazed.

I get so many of those "Fits in the back of my truck" or "How's the gas mileage?" comments, it just flies over your head after a while. I'm a secure guy, and I know that many of them deep inside think it's a cool car and/or secretly want a drive.

I'm very glad I went with the MINI. My father suggested it when I was shopping. I'm glad I bought it because it reminded me of my first and previous car, an old 1992 Mazda Protege I purchased with Chick-Fil-A wages just four years ago... small and light, although with twice the horsepower and torque!

This is my second car, and the first brand new car I ever bought, and I enjoy it immensely, and I am very proud to be a young MINI Cooper motorist!
