4th Annual Ice Cream Run

As in years past we will once again be making a Ice Cream Run to Bryson City.
The Ice Cream Run takes us to Soda Pops and The Filling Station.
The Filling Station is an excellent place to pick up a sandwich and then
make your way next door to Soda Pops for Ice Cream.
If you're on a diet then you may just want to skip out on the sandwich and
go directly to Soda Pops for ice cream.
The run takes place right after the Panoramic Group Picture (approx. 11:15am).

We will stage for the run in front of the General Store at Fontana Village and
depart in groups of 20.
In the past we have tried to leave as one big group but the shear size of the
group has caused a massive slinky effect that leads to lost drivers.
This year I am looking for volunteers to lead each group of twenty.
While there is no requirement to reserve a spot for this event, we do appreciate
advance notice of your intent so that we can better prepare
for the amount of lead drivers that we will need.

Slinky Effect

I know what you mean about the slinky effect. I led the 2007 trip from the Dam after the panoramic photo in the drizzle and got a few complaints about how fast I led it out. I wasn't over 35 until I hit 74 (the 4 lane into Bryson City) and I must say the mirror shot where 74 goes through the valley was
AWESOME!

I'm hoping to be there again this year, and if I am, I'll lead a group.

Bob

I joined the Ice Cream run late last year and still had a lot of fun. I don't want to lead a group but put down as a participant for sure!

You all talking about the "slinky effect" couldn't help but remember something a friend of mine posted on FB: "Some people are like a Slinky ...Not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you shove them down the stairs" . . . . I'm just saying! Hope you guys get a kick out of this as much as I did!
