Winter tires/wheel size

I am on the verge of either ordering or purchasing an in stock MINI Clubman "S" automatic - my first MINI. I plan on using snow tires for the winter ... any time now here in the Boston area.

I am pretty nervous driving in snowy/icing conditions ... can someone advise me as to the best tires and size I should get for this Clubman? Any driving tips in these weather conditions?

I am so excited to get this car, but at the same time I am concerned about the weather conditions

With good snow tires, the front wheel drive and low center of gravity makes the great in the snow.

There are many sizes and Option for snows for your ride, call Alex at Tirerack he can give you the best choices for the car and area you live in.
I have 4 snows that are on seperate wheels, and have yet to have a problem in the winter with them.

Since I am new to this site, can you tell me how to get in touch with "Alex" from Tire Rack?

I agree, a "good" tire is best, it's just trying to figure out which one. What about studded snows? Are they better than regular snow tires?

Thanks - I appreciate your responses.

Once you get your winter tires, find an empty parking lot after the first significant snow and PRACTICE. Make the car skid on purpose and try to get it back under control. I did this with my daughter some years ago and it was difficult for her to try to get my truck to skid. Very strong fear of having that happen. It took a while, but she got finally lost most of the fear in having the truck skid. Once inducing a skid is no problem, next try go get things back under control. The problem is that this is something that people don't practice, so they remain very tentative in difficult weather.
