Suspension rear suspension creaking/need serious help
rear suspension creaking/need serious help
i am lost for ideas on a creaking noise coming from the rear suspension of my 06 mcs. i have a alta 19mm rear sway bar and sway bar endlinks. i have had the company that installed the sway look at it twice and they have made sure it was greased very well. the weird thing is that it happens over bumps at slow speed (10-15 mph) and it can only be heard from inside the car. i had my girlfriend stand outside next to a speed bump and she could not hear the noise. i am not sure what to think from here, i just can't figure it out. the noise drives me nuts when driving through a parking lot. could the sway bar and endlinks be making the rear suspension to stiff? any help would be great and all ideas are welcome.
I'd start out swapping the end links for OEM. If the creak is still there, then it's the bar (or mounts.) About a year after my 22mm rear sway install, mine started creaking, but a bit of lube cleared it right up.
Like Eric said, I'd put your stock endlinks on and see if the noise goes away. If it doesn't I'd regrease the swaybar, maybe use I different grease. I've seen alot of Alta swaybars squeak, so start their. And your endlinks are heim joints so they are traditionally noisey too.
