Embracing change is strange. Yet... MINI owners probably do it better than most.

God speed.

North American Motoring? What in the sam hell?

I think there's something fundamentally wrong with the acronym for this site spelling "NAM." Although I DO love the smell of napalm in the morning. It smells like . . . victory.

Thanks BMW AG, for sending us to Nam! Repeat after me:

Hell no, I won't go!
Hell no, I won't go!
Hell no, I won't go!

Time to pull out my Country Joe and the Fish albums.

I, too, did a double take on the new acronym. Oh well...it's Mark's site/choice, I guess.
Go with the flow, y'all...

I too had a little trouble with the acronym initially but given that I work on the site every day it has become something different than the other Nam  We can always refer to the site as Motoring for short. Whenever a name change occurs for something you've been using for a long time its hard to find something that works for everyone. In this case I have come to really like the full name. It conveys what the site is about without running into any trademark issues.

Thanks again for everyone's support during the last few months. Now that this is behind us I'm looking forward to moving forward again.

Best regards,

Mark

Hey Mark,

How much does Motoring.com want for their domain name. Clearly some punk kid is just dangling it in front of you (or whomever). Wouldn't it be nice if you had that one too and could just do a re-direct to this sight?

Sorry...just thinking. I guess I'll learn to love NAM, but right now I'm still in the "Denial" phase.

I figure it this way. This site became what it is through the hard work of Mark and the community built by the members here. That aint goin' away. Regardless of the name on the door, it's the same group inside. North American Motoring is not that bad. I'll get used to it. It was tough enough to type 'minicooperonline' where I had to, so what's a few more letters? Heck, namotoring is shorter. MCO vs NAM? Three letters either way. Let's wear it kinda like a war injury received in valiant battle against a formidable foe. We're still here despite 'em. And we still make the OL look like cactus.

I actually looked into it but it would have been several thousand dollars thrown on top of already very expensive legal expenses. Given that I came up with this name and after working with it over the last couple of months have come to really like it. Of course, being at the center of the storm I was also glad to find something that would move us ahead.

I actually like North American Motoring better than MCO .. sounds more like a car club and less than an advertisement.

Maybe I am the only one, but the change is welcome here

So how do we say it? I used to say Em See Oh. Is it going to be just a single syllable nahm or three like en-eh-em.

If you mean the "kill" stickers he probably got them from a MINI Cooper ad that appeared in some magazines couple of months back....Motor Trend I think was one.
