What would you force Mini to recall?

If you had the power to make Mini conduct a recall to fix one issue what would it be? There's lots to choose from ...

By far, the entire valve train assembly on the turbocharged 172hp Prince (and JCW Prince) engine, including everything that assembly is attached to. Failed components within this system, most notably the vacuum pump, have resulted in catastrophic engine failures.

Everything else to me: hood scoops, windows, etc arent really that bad in the grand scheme of things, normal BMW-ish stuff, like the windows. That crap's been going for decades.

But on the flip side, a massive, drive-train related recall, once leaked to the media, can be very detrimental to a car line's general reputation, including those sweet resale values we still enjoy. So think about it. Major recall = very bad

Recalls are bad but at the same time is shows they're serious about fixing stuff that isn't quite right. How many people have traded in their Minis because all these issues don't seem be addressed?

Recall? If anything, I'd say recall all those manual tranny cars. I hear nothing but bellyaching every week from clutches going out while I'm still enjoying my bulletproof auto tranny. I kid, I kid.

Recalls are usually mandated by the NHTSA and they involve defects that can cause a potential safety hazard. I don't think hood scoops melting, power window glitches or annoying rattles calls for a recall.

I know recalls are only for safety issues but if we could FORCE Mini to do a recall what would it be? For folks that have had several hood scoops replaced, I would hope a recall would involve a REAL fix not just band aides as in multiple hood scoop replacements until your warranty runs out. For cold start chatter and timing belt tensioners, a recall would force Mini to fix them all instead of waiting until yours breaks down on the highway and saying "oh yeah, there's a bulletin for that". That's the whole idea of a recall, you know you have a problem so you fix it instead of knowing you have a problem but waiting for the break down and the strandings.

Go over his head, talk to his Manager (Service Manager). Discuss your concerns, then ask politely to be assigned to another Service Advisor. I have two that I've dealt with at my Dealership, one I will not go back to, the other one is outstanding, I requested that I deal directly with her the last time I wasin...couldn't hurt!!

I say recall all r56s and exchange the hubs for a honda 5 bolt pattern so we have more wheel choices.

I'd rather have a major recall to fix whatever's wrong with my car rather than worry about resale value, especially if I don't intend to sell/trade it.

I'd really like all the little creaking bits in the interior recalled. 5 days to fix a rattling sunroof (for the third or fourth time)...ugh.

Do you go to Northwest Mini (Tacoma) or Rasmussen (Portland)? I was pretty happy with the service adviser at NW Mini, she's quite nice.
