Vibrating Rear View Mirror

Several days after picking up my 2009 MCS convertible, I noticed that my rear view mirror was vibrating. I have automatic and the mirror vibrates when the RPM’s are around 1800. So went to the dealership this week and was told it’s a normal issue with the convertible. The SA told me the mirror is not loose and the vibration is coming from somewhere else. Has anyone experienced this issue? In my 2007 mini convertible I didn’t have this problem. I tried searching NAM, but came up with nothing. It’s not a big deal, but I’m concerned about the other things vibrating in the car, such as electrical. Any ideas? Do I need to go back and be more firm with the dealership?

Thanks

My door mirrors vibrate took it back several times and nothing could be done. I just live with. Just one of the quirks of a MINI.

Turn down your bass.

My rear view mirror rattles a bit too, but never out of position.

R57 with homelink and auto dimming mirror : unusable

Hi,

My rear view mirror is vibrating from day 1 and is very annoying as almost unusable. Took it back to dealer and could not do anything. I will ask to have the mirror replaced when they have the car for replacing the top !Hopefully before end year !

I get the vibrations as well - but it is usually associated with the car vibrating as well e.g. if I haven't downshifted quickly enough at a lower speed. I don't have it happen very regularly.

My rear view mirror vibrates every time I put coins in the ash tray.....maybe there's a connection ?

Seriously though.

Contact the MINI parts dept and find out if the part numbers of both mirrors from 2007 abd 2009 are the same....IF not, maybe the older 2007 mirror can be purchased and attached to eleviate this problem.....somtimes it is just a matter of a specific weight and frequency to get the vibrations....in the new Camaro's the factory is sticking crappy lead wheel weights onto the front brake calipers to keep them from vibrating badly....So could be the newer mirror is lighter and more prone to the vibrations ?

I know some 2005/06 owners who didnt like their newer style huge mirrors and put the smaller one's in made from 02-04 so it can be done with some....

Ok at least the dealership isn't giving me some BS story. Another little quirk of the mini...and I still love the car even if I see 4 images of the vehicle behind me.

The geeky answer is that what makes a tuning fork vibrate at a certain note or frequency makes rv mirrors vibrate at a certain engine speed. My MCS convertible mirror vibrates briefly when accelerating off of idle but it is not a problem.

Mine vibrates too... I think is just the fact that we don't have a solid roof over our heads thus less chassis rigidity.

In any case, I just live with it....

Yeah, now that I think of it, there were many older European rag tops which had the rear view mirror actually attached the dashboard instead of the windshield....
