unusually strong R56??

now i don't condone racing on the street, but i saw a guy in a 09 cooper S that was stock (i know the guy ) run a 07 WRX STi from 60 to around 140 and the STi only pulled 3 car lengths on the guy after 100. i'm assuming the STi was stock. from 60 to 100 almost dead even then the STi pulled on him. unusually strong R56 or is the HP on them that underrated?

Its underrated.. and three car lengths is a lot (like 30 feet). Also the STI doesnt have the drivetrain advantage at those speeds. The STI should literally 'smoke' just about anything off the line, and the slow up pretty quick. Our R56s do very well at highway speeds... My friend in his 350z Nizmo takes his time in pulling away from me - in fact I can pull away from him in top gear (6th) starting at 65mph. Its a even match when I'm in 6th and he's in 5th until he hits 5500 rpm.

Mini guy just drove better than the STI guy. My brother has an STI and it is stronger than the Mini at all speeds. Have to bring out the 72 Olds w/ a 455 to beat the STI.

Would a Yugo with 50HP more really be a better car?

Probably

I once seen a Yugo with a V6 in it. It was still a piece of crap but it "WAS" really unique.

There is a guy here in Florida that has a classic Mini with a V6 in it. It is a truly nice car. It was done very well with a lift off front end.

well i can somewhat relate to this but many people seem to call B.S. on my story but here goes... I know this kid with an 06' STi... its got little stuff like intake, bov, and exhaust ... no big turbo or nothing. well i see him in my mini on the street ( i have a 09 r56 auto with just cai ) so i turn off dsc and turn on sport. I get infront of him to turn to see if he wants to do a quick roll, and as im turning i look back and see him switching lanes and guns its, so i floor the mini and through out the whole time i'd say i was about 1.5 -2 cars infront of him but i noticed as we passed 70 he was slowing inching.... so i'd say that the scubies are a bit overrated.

Well i've noticed that most of the time if they're going SLOWER, they probably got a cop-dar thingie and it went beep beep beep.

Wow get butthurt often. I made the comment cause it is true so in this race there really isn't going to be much of a difference in performance at higher speeds.

I used to have an 05 STi and the stock tune on those cars isnt very good on the top end. Add in the fact that the car is 600lbs heavier and the awd system eats up more power before it gets to the ground and it is no surprise the Mini can hang with it.
