punch leather should be flat, not waving at me...right?

(Note, Ill be adding a picture later..I dont wan't to walk all the way back to my car down the street at the moment )

My post is regarding the punch leather in the drivers' seat of my Mini. Upon purchasing the car, all of the panels in the seats were flat, well-stitched, pristine, and looking mighty sexy.

After owning it for only about 2~ weeks now, the punched leather part of the seat (where the ol' butt goes) is wavy now, as opposed to a flat patch of leather. It's almost as if it stretched somehow, and because of it, it's causing a wave or buckle in the leather. I'm 6'3" and ~185 lbs so it shouldnt be a case of weight being the culprit...nor has any liquid been spilled on the seat, so I have no idea what could be causing this.

Anyone else seen or have any idea of what I'm referring to with regards to the leather seats? I'm not usually a stickler about imperfections in fabric/upolstery/stitching...and I realize that wear & tear is inevitable, but only after 2 weeks and the leather shape is changing so drastically...it just seems rather odd.

..
Oh and speaking of punched holes, I wrote up a quick DIY for bumper plugs over in the Modifications forum (under inter/exter)...if any of you are interested in taking off your front plate, check it out

"butt sag" has been a common complaint for MINI leather seats, both 1st and 2nd gen, and even the premium Lounge Leather.

That is one reason that you shouldnt wear a rear pocket wallet in the leather seat. You get "wallet crunch". I keep mine in my front pocket now.

A report on the mechanical properties of leather:

Won't solve the problem but at least you will know what is going on and why.

I never understood how people can sit on their wallet and be comfortable. Mine goes in the door cubby whenever I drive.

Is it comfortable to sit on? Not tearing? Then enjoy. Leather stretches just like your skin. Eventually, it will sag, just like your skin. Rejoice that some cow gave all for the comfort of your tush.
