Convertible Rattle only when up?

My 2 month old Mini S has started rattling only when the top is up, sounds like rear driver's side, but could be transmitting from another spot.
I have tried to look at it in operation to see if something worked it's way loose, but haven't seen anything. It was SUPER quiet until a week or 2 ago, now VERY aggravating, HELP! Any ideas please.

Ok, seriously...put the top up and hop in the back seat. See if you can see anything that is hanging strangely. Make sure its all semetrical (the passengers side should look the same as the drivers side.) If that all looks normal then I have no idea. Good luck.

Mini released two services bulletins about noise coming from (1) when the top is down and (2) when the top is up. I posted both service bulletins here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...p-or-down.html

Take a read at the MS Word Document, then contact your dealer if you feel that what you're experiencing is described in either of those two bulletins. I'd even take the bullet itself to the dealer.

Hopefully that helps

I posted these two since I was sure someone may begin to experience these two issue, otherwise why would Mini send this out to the dealer so early in the 2009 model year... Just my two cents.

I just returned from a drive and noticed it is more of a rubbing sound, like rubber on plastic or the cables internally stretched and making sounds? Not so much a rattle as creaking, especially over a bump or just as the car moves along, slow or fast.

Thanks
It sounds EXACTLY like a solution, felt where rubbing occurs, probably standard now!

Same rattle from behind drivers seat with top up

I just picked up my 09 Conv a couple of weeks ago and have a bad rattle with the top up. It sounds like it is coming from behind the drivers seat. Thanks for posting the service notices, I will have the dealer check it out when we take the car back to have the chocolate accessories installed.
