R56 suggestions for must have options
suggestions for must have options
Maybe I will just buy my 2nd choice color- chili red with white roof and white bonnet stripes and with automatic transmission.
When checking the miniusa site, there are many options to add on.
What options do you think I should add for my 2010 mini cooper S?
I am not a racer but a woman who loves the mini cooper styling and want to drive a fun car. This will be a 2nd car.

I believe the Multi-function steering wheel will be standard in 2010. If not, it is a must-have.
I like the NAV. It integrates GPS, Bluetooth, and car settings. If you get the Bluetooth/USB options, and use an iPod of iPhone, it will list the tracks on the NAV screen.
Heated seats are nice. The MINI takes awhile to warm up. Rain sensing wipers let you turn it on and forget it. They adjust as the rain gets stronger or weaker.
Auto A/C is another turn it on and forget it feature. I had a loaner with standard A/C and I was constantly having to adjust it.
Park Distance Control makes backing up easy in tight spaces, especially with low-lying objects that are difficult to see with the high waist of the 2 Gen. MINI design, and the headrests in the back seats. This option is best with the NAV because of the graphic on screen.
I like the Comfort Access option. Just leave the fob in a pocket (or purse) and you can still lock/unlock the car and start the engine.
The sunroof turns the MINI into a greenhouse. If you get it in SoCal, you would need to either put a perforated graphic on the roof, or a heavy tint (get one that wont cause heat build-up in the glass and cause it to break). According to reports here, the screen that comes with the MINI doesn't seem to work well.
You need something for your dog so you can drive safely, and it will survive if you are in an accident. Having it in your lap is not a good idea.

For a lady I agree with Robin about the "Comfort Access System" no digging in the purse to find the keys! And the "Multi-function" steering wheel is just nice.

I agree that the options are all about personal preference and what is important or cool to you for your new car. I got the Premium package because I like the auto AC feature, and the Convenience package because having to just toss the fob in my purse and not fumble with keys sounds nice, along with the integrated garage door opener and auto wipers.
I also decided to get the nav system, even though it's probably overpriced for what it is. It's much more than just nav, so I am sure I'll like having the display for incoming phone calls, ipod songs, etc.
Supposedly you will have one missing toggle switch if you don't get the rear fog lamps. Worth the $100 for me!
Have fun planning for your fun new ride!!

Seconded. I've not driven an R56 w/o xenon's, but my friend's R52 has the standard lights and they're pretty weak. MFSW is worth it for cruise control; I almost never use the stereo adjustments on the wheel though. Rear fogs and anthracite are more cosmetic (entirely for the anthracite), but I think it looks a lot better with them.
