Interior/Exterior PatternTek
PatternTek
Has anyone ever used "PatternTek" for interior dash/trim modification?
Their ".com" has lots of cool examples of things they can do... just wondering if anyone has ever worked with them and what the quality/durability of product/expense is like.
Of course I can contact them... but it's always nice to hear first-hand experiences.

TWISTER! I didn't know you made it 'round these parts!
So it looks like you've modified your car more than once.
Anyway, I assume that the "carbon fiber dash" was the "PatternTek"? It did look nice!
So I was looking at doing a "wood" look. One thing I love about the Classic Minis... the wood dash and chrome.
jbell- Looks like drycarbonwrap.com just does the carbon fiber look?
I found a post on a Scion forum about PatternTek (apparently quite popular) and a member on there mentioned some other guy in St. Pete FL (much closer to me) that does the same kind of work. Does anyone know what this process of finished work that PatternTek does is called? Something so that maybe I can search for various vendors to compare?
And one more question- is there any way for me to remove the large door rings to be finished the same?

Do you use heat to mold it around the piece? As far as expense/durability/quality- which would be best?
So far we're talking:
- ordering OEM parts
- 3M vinyl "wood" wrap
- water transfer printing (aka hydro-dipping)
Has anyone removed the large door rings? Looks like the whole door panel would have to be ordered on OEM (like $600+ per door) but all I would want done would be the rings. Maybe they can't be removed?
jbell- Thanks for posting the videos! That really looks pretty easy... and I DO have a heat gun... and know how to use it.
However, I checked the 3M website for wood patterns. I see they have only one "Burl" and the rest of the wood types look wrong for the application. Do you have more than one Burl?
One other thing I thought about doing is a Burberry (plaid) pattern. Can patterns (like Burberry) be copied on this same vinyl for use on projects like this?

I think that would be awesome
I guess if I don't know what it is that means I don't have it?
