Newbie questions : Bought a clubman today - waiting for it to arrive!

HI All,

I just purchased a 2008 Lightning Blue Clubman S with 4000(yes just 4k) miles, MINI Next certified, loaded with all 4 packages, Auto trans, leather, center arm rest, chrome etc etc for $26.5k - assuming that is a good deal given in service date of 11/08 and MINI next will give some ways to go. This is for my wife who has wanted a mini for a long time - I am super excited as well as I have a M5 and have had other M cars for 12+ years. We are waiting for it to be shipped to us over next few days in bay area from our previous home state of colorado

few first questions:
1. Did I get a good deal? just wanted to know?
2. What items should I expect with the car?
-Any leather folder with what manuals?
-How many keys? anything else that comes with a new car? Like mobility kit or took kit ?
-What floor mats come with the car?
3. I am being offered extended maintenance @ $1780 which will extend current maintenance that ends in Nov/2011 to Nov 2014 to match the MINI Next Warranty. worth it? Should I do it?

(Reason I ask is I have purchased 2 ducati motorcycles in the past and never had what is called a red key and never knew about it, want to be educated about this car, my searches found no answer)

1. Did I get a good deal? just wanted to know?
*Can't give your a substantive reply, but that is about 8k under what its sticker was when new.
2. What items should I expect with the car?
-Any leather folder with what manuals?
*Yes
-How many keys?
* Two. Comfort Access keys are expensive
anything else that comes with a new car?
* Boot box, cargo net and a big cheesy grin.
Like mobility kit or took kit ?
* I think that the mobility kit is an dealer supplied option
-What floor mats come with the car?
* None. But they tend to be comped by the dealership.
3. I am being offered extended maintenance @ $1780 which will extend current maintenance that ends in Nov/2011 to Nov 2014 to match the MINI Next Warranty. worth it? Should I do it?
* Pure value judgment.

Congratulations on your purchase.

Also get the little plastic key, not sure what they call it, that is only for opening the door and starting the car.

Maint contract - depends on how you like to care for your car. I do most of my own work so an extended maint contract for me is useless. If you like to service your car at the dealer it may be worth it to just know what that will cost.
Also, depend on how many miles you expect to drive. MINI like BMW will not to maint service early. So if you don't drive many miles it might not be worth it.

What little plastic key? Where would it go to start the car? A 2008 doesn't have a keyed ignition.

Congrats on the new purchase, glad to see fellow M getting the MINI.... I just got my MINI 5 months ago, so here's my input:
1. Not a bad deal.
2. None. Maybe floor mat but depends on the dealer, I have to buy mine. you will get 2 keys, i don't think you will get the plastic key (valet key) because on the regular key there's a spare key hidden (push the button on the metal part back of the key)
3. Don't get the extended maintenance yet, get it right before it gets expire.. and do shop around for pricing, every dealer quote different, and you can get the extended maintenance at any dealer across the country and use at any MINI dealer (I used to work at BMW dealer so know how dealer works).

Good Luck!

You wouldn't want one anyway, they are "Cheap and Chinsey", a Plastic Box, but the Top is made out of Corregated Cardboard. They if the Coopers, not Clubman's.

You maybe talking about the Box under the Deck Lid in the Clubman, not sure what's it's called...next time you are at your Dealer check out other Clubman's or maybe some one here can help you out with pics.

Good Luck!!

Not sure about a plastic key, but there should be a key in the fob. You push a small button and the handle of the fob slides out to reveal that it is a key. This is used to unlock the car so you can pop the hood if the battery fails.

Dead battery = no juice to unlock the doors with the fob. Can't get into the car to release the hood latch = can't replace the battery. Catch 22 if there wasn't a key.
