Conti ExtremeContact DWS..."If it seems too good to be true..."
...you know the rest.
While I realize these are a new series of tire, any experiences/opinions?
Judging by the test on Tire Rack, they'd be right up my alley (good dry traction, great wet traction (Seattle), useable in light snow, low road noise), but I must say that I'm very skeptical of any UHP all-season that goes for such a reasonable price (currently $116/ea for 215-45/17's), but offers a 50K mile (!?!?) warranty...
I don't doubt that they'd be great for the first few thousand miles, but I'm rather concerned about what might happen after that (the soft, grippy top layer of tread wears off and gives way to the rock-hard "50,000 mile" layer below...?).
Thanks,
Rich

Its taking more cues from the popular aysemetric designs.

I'd expect them not to get as noisy as Extreme contacts while they wear. Their dry grip is higher, and conrering more precise than the Extreme. Jack of all trades, and as most UHP tires are concerned, not mastery in any 1 catagory.
Good for mildly agressive street use, in all-weather coditions. I'd not expect enough grip to track/ autocross competitively with.

Our testing shows Conti DWS having good performance, and staying fairly quiet but we do rotate with religion on our test cars. Who's to say they will stay as quiet if not rotated often enough.

Thanks much for the straightforward reply, Alex, and since this
exactly describes my driving habits/conditions, I think I'll give 'em a try in a month or two and Rotate Religiously.
Out of curiosity, has Continental given you guys any indication on when additional 17" sizes will become available? The PDF brochure claims "9 additional 17" sizes coming," and while it looks like a 215-45 would work just fine, I'd like to stick with the stock size (205-45) if possible (if for no other reason than to keep the sidewalls at or near their current height).
Thanks again,
Rich

i am in need of some new tires here in a couple of months and was seriously considering these tires. reviews on tirerack seem to be pretty good so far. and besides, the tread pattern is pretty cool, and that is all that really matters, right?

I might pull the trigger a bit earlier and just go with the 215-45's, but either way, I'll definitely be giving you a call.
