2010 Mini Cooper

Dealers are now accepting orders for 2010 Model MC's. Does anyone know of changes or pricing for 2010 model builds?? Am told delivery will be by 11/1/2009.

I talked to my MA today. She doesn't have pricing yet. Mellow Yellow is discontinued, and Dark Silver will be available on all models. The multi-function steering wheel will be standard. The new upgraded stereo system will be Harmon Kardon, but she said they won't build that until about December. That's about all that's different for the 2010s...as far as we know.

I have heard the same from Dealers in Northern California. The H/K audio system will now be part of a second Premium package totaling $1750 (with H/K audio, $1250 without). The Sport Package will now be $1250 with the same content. No changes on the other packages.

I had not heard about the Dark Silver color being available on the Cooper now. That will make me rethink my color choice for sure.

I have a 2010 Laser Blue MCS with the Chili package. It's 100% identical to the 2009 model.

I'd read on Motoringfile that the Limited Slip Differential option is now gone and that the HK audio system is to replace the HiFi unit.

I'm meeting with my MA on Tuesday at our new dealer -- hope to get the low-down on the 2010 MCS. This will be my first and I might as well wait a little longer to get the better stereo. I'll report back on what I learn.

just back from a dealership yesterday and returning on tomorrow as I may trade my 06 Cooper Convertible for an 09 or 10 Cooper S Convertible. I have the HK in my 06 and my understanding from the dealer is that the 09 upgraded HIFI system is still the HK system, there was some legal issues and they lost the rights to put the HK logo on the grills (system) however in 10 the HK logo will return, so there is no difference other than branding.

That's not necessarily true. Yes, I "think" the current premium stereo may have been designed by HK, but it is being replaced with an updated/better unit. Read the article that yubman ^ linked.

I don't think the current system is in any way related to HK. If it were, it probably would have sounded a lot better. I'm not sure though.
Sounds to me like your dealer just doesn't want you to wait for the mid-cycle refresh!

I read somewhere that the current HIFI option was a mix of Alpine and HK parts. The speakers are dirt cheap with paper cones and sound like it. Even if they were all HK, it wouldn't guarantee that they would be the same quality as the 1st Gen HK option.

At this point, I think dealers are taking orders for the 2010 model, so I'd consider the new audio upgrade.

I wonder if those of us with 2007-2009 Mini's will be able to have our speakers replaced at the dealership. I'm guessing that the cost might be pretty ridiculous.

Ordered my 2010 MCS yesterday at the grand opening of our dealer. They don't start making them until the end of September though. The upgraded stereo won't be available for production until December though. Therefore, I didn't get it in order to get my car in November instead of February. Pricing for 2010 models won't be out for a few more weeks. While Mellow Yellow is gone for 2010, a new yellow will be available -- it is more of a citron color which isn't as eye-popping but still nice.

We ordered from Pensacola MINI. There was the standard $650 destination charge but beyond that just a few misc required state fees amounting to only about $40 or so.

I am afraid that Orange is not a color option for the 2010.

The only color addition that I am aware of for 2010 is Horizon Blue (which will replace Lightning Blue), Interstate Yellow (replacing Mellow Yellow) and a new silver white color.

Pics of Horizon Blue can be found in the thread Official Horizon Blue Owners Club ... Not sure if any pics of the new yellow are up yet.

Good luck & Motor On!

Is it Interstate Yellow or Interchange Yellow. The latter is currently available on convertibles if you want a peek at what it looks like. I almost got a MY/B. Mellow Yellow reminded me of an MGB I drove for a summer.

MINIs do tend to drive better when the engine isn't somewhere else.

I used to be a radio off person as well, but with the ability to use an iPod or iPhone, I like having music in the car -- especially when caught in traffic. Driving through San Jose or Los Angeles can be dismal without it.

From the photos, Interchange Yellow doesn't look bad.

you can order a Candem series with new H/K, receive in october, with the news system audio.

December i think this is wrong.

The 50 series MAYFAIR/CANDEM is produce for 1 year, the mid-cycle refesh will be sold in September 2010, after this period.

This is information that we have with us in Europe, I will order in a few weeks , and it disturbs me to order an "old" R56 S, but I can not wait.

What do you think of the color? I saw an R55 at dealer that looked pretty cool.

Still happy with PW though.
