Cost of Oil Filter from Dealer!

Has anyone purchased an oil filter from the dealer lately? I purchased one about 6 months ago for under $10, and yesterday, I paid over $20 each! Anyone know the reason for the price hike?

All dealers are different with their discount structure for retail parts.

At my dealer I pay 10.00 +tax at the dealer 35 miles farther away I would pay 18.00 +tax

Outmotoring.com and you pay 14.50 plus shipping.

Minimania 14.95 plus shipping

Maybe your dealer ship change their price structure knowing that the public would pay it.

$10 @ prestige mini. If they are charging more just ask why and i they will price match another dealer. My dealer often PM's Morristown mini.

Yes, you were ripped-off. Plenty of sources for OEM filters under $10. Give someone else your business.

In Canada, I paid:

$22.09 each @ MINI dealer in St. Catherines, Ontario;

$24.00 each @ MINI dealer in Ottawa, Ontario;

for filter and crush washer.

I checked the receipt from my first dealer service (Ottawa) which includes an oil change. Here's what's listed:

oil filter - - - - list price $24.00 - - - - - unit price $13.00 - - - $13.00

... so they charged me $13 for the filter when they changed the oil, but $24.00 when I picked the filter up at the parts counter an did it myself.

???? ????

A ripoff, either way....
