Thanks for the info about the marketplace. We have a four month old baby, and she is tired of the whole car seat/2dr car thing. She says its time for a suv. They always seems to get what they want.

I've been married 44 years. It took me a lot longer to learn that than it took you. But I guess in the end it's all worth it if you've got a good woman. The sad part is having to give up the Mini.

Why do you need a SUV because you have one child? A nice 4 door sedan will do just fine. Something along the lines of a Camry would be a perfect fit.
I just don't understand the logic of, there will be 3 people in the car, we need comfortable seating for 5, or more! One kid and fit in the back of a 4 door car easily, as can two. The middle-hump-suck-seat can work for the 3rd, but it is a bit cramped at that point. And when there are three kids then maybe a CUV/SUV is merited.

If she's the primary driver of the car and has the put Junior in the back, I'd say she gets to make the call. It's not easy to get in and out of the back of a MINI with a cup of coffee, let alone a child.
But... if you're driving the fam around and making her put Junior in the back of your car... maybe you should take family trip to find a good carseat that fits well in the MINI and learn how to use it yourself so she doesn't have to do it herself all the time. If I had to crawl in the backseat of my hubby's tiny car to strap the kid in I might be thinking about getting something more comfortable, too. But if when you take YOUR car YOU take Junior and get him/her all buckled in, it might be cool.
Of course I'd be happily crawling in the back of my own car or my (would be) husband's sporty car to buckle Junior in, but that's me.
