Whaddya think? Pulled hard away from lights. Car bogged, lost all power, bucked abit, check engine light came on idicating not to drive it....

It's at the dealer now, but wondering what it could be? (lots of possibilities, i know)

Was thinking either an 02 sensor crapped out or the tube from the turbo inlet fell off...err popped off...

car is an 09 MCSa with approx 5k. Thanks

 

UH-oh! Sound like could possibly be the fuel pump. There's been a rash of those failing lately. Let's hope the dealer doesn't pull the "bad gas" speech off of the excuse board!

Did you have a chance to download the code? It would be important to know that as it would narrow down the potential issues.

If you do not have a code reader and do not want to buy one, just stop by any Pep Boys, Auto Zone or Advanced Auto Parts or others and they will read it for free for you (in less than 5 minutes). You can then look up the defination of the code on the internet. At least you will know what it is before going to th dealer.

 

My guess is that the intake hose came off at the turbo. Happens to me all the time.

 

It was the fuel pump. How could one have a faulty fuel pump at such an early age?

 

Stuff like this makes me wonder whether it's a good idea to take my MCS to the highway. Being stranded in the middle of nowhere, 4 hours away from any Mini dealer doesnt sound like a good thing.

 

well i had my fuel pump replaced at 1700 miles so even younger than yours. I think that they have a bad string of fuel pumps floating around.

 

I also had a fuel pump failure last week. 4000 miles.

that is exactly what my car did. I had this happen again after the fuel pump was replaced but they cleared all the fuel maps to clear the light since i was going out of town. I then took it back and guess what for a week they could not re-create the problem that they had witnessed.
