I apologize in advance if this has already been covered, but it is really hard to do a search on a "what is it?" question! Anyway, here it is: Does anyone know what is the function of the raised, vented compartment on the ceiling over the rear seat (it is behind the sunroof in my case)? Here is a picture of the mysterious compartment:

Thats where the interior motion sensor goes if you have an alarm. I've been wondering what that was on BMW's for years myself.

That is not the case with the Mini. I opened it up and there is nothin in there.
