Hole in tire Sidewall. Is it Patachable?

Hey Guys,
Noticed my tire was low on air, so i tried to fill it up. Then noticed air escaping out of a hole in the sidewall (no idea how this happened).

I am running Dunlop Run Flats (factory MINI tires), and was wondering if sidewall holes were patchable. Thanks!

Absolutely not. Once the sidewall is violated, that tire is toast.

Probably not. Since the sidewall is where the strength is to make a run flat a run flat. You are likely looking at a new tire. Especially since bubbles in the side wall mean new tires, I can only imagine what damage a hole would be.

Make sure you check the wear on the other tires if you're replacing this one.. One brand new tire with the other three (somewhat) worn out might lead to trouble..

uh, that'd be a "no." Sidewalls on RSC's are designed to provide support in case of a flat. If U wish to replace yr. runflats, consider the Continental Pro-contacts that are on many of the 2009s. I have them on mine and they're sooooo much better than the Duncraps I had on my 05--and about half the price.

Check the marketplace for a replacement tire since those damn things run almost $300 a piece.

That's why I suggested the Contis--DT quoted me $170/ea out the door when I bought my replacement warranties last dec. Dunflops were still hovering around $300. I think U pay for the name here.

You should use the same tire all around, otherwise there will be some traction issues... well if you play alot with you car or in bad weather conditions

Rule of thumb I've always followed is to replace a tire once the sidewall has been compromised and you should try and match it to the other three tires.. 2cents

If you put in a temp patch, only drive it to the tire shop to get a new tire.
