So since i bought my cooper S this winter, the drivers side seatbelt is having issues. When i try to unbuckle the belt, the buckle gets stuck and i have to jiggle and move it around to get it to release. This is obviously a dangerous problem.

The dealer will not warranty this problem since its out of the standard warranty. I am going to have to fix this myself but i urge anyone who has had this problem to report it to the NHTSA with this link:

if enough people report the same problem they will investigate and possibly issue a safety recall or bulletin.

 

Thanks for the info, although your situation appears to be be isolated after a NAM search and a Google search didn't return any other people having the same issue. Even safety equipment can fail but hopefully it's not too expensive to fix!

 

I know this is an older thread but have you fixed this problem? My '09 just started doing this today!
