Battery reset of module?

My fiance bought me a 2002 Mini Cooper in British racing Green 7 months ago. The car had already had 5 owners which should have made us suspicious. I love the car but recent issues have put it's future with me in jeopardy! About 4 months ago the hatch/hood light started lighting up at random times despite neither being open. This resolved on its own. Then about 2 months ago, the entire dash signal system went haywire - turn signals/headlamp indicators not working, interior light staying on, hazard indicator and tire pressure indicator coming on and off. We had the car serviced by a local 'sports car' clinic. (There is no local dealer.) The service technician told us that the source of the problem could not be found but it was resolved with a battery reset (software reset) and if the problem recurred that a new Kombi control module may be needed. Sure enough barely a week later the problem recurred. I am wondering if anyone knows how to do a battery reset at home or if anyone has any clue about the cost of a Kombi module. Cost may be a factor in me selling this car though I would hate to part with it. It has been sitting in my driveway the better part of the last 2 months since it is not safe to drive in its current state. I would appreciate any input!
