The future of the MINI...

Alright. I'm stuck should I wait to get the 2010 MINI where i hear it is going to get a major makeover, or should i just go for it now??

And just out of curiosity, does anyone know if there is going to be a dramatic price change? And what new features are on the horizon??

P.S. I put this thread in general mini talk because i wasn't asking about the current mini but the future one. So if it needs to be moved feel free.

Thank you guys so much!

I would not hold my breath for a major makeover. Even then some things you may like about the refresh, somethings you may not. It was thus when the first gen had its refresh. In the end, every model year seems to offer little additions here and there so waiting is tricky.

If you like the current one, and can't wait - go for it!

If you're on the fence, and can wait - hold out.

I would personally wait because when it is released the dealer will be trying to sell out their stock of '09s anyway. So if you decided to get a '10 then you will know everything about it or an '09 with a price break as they are trying to move them.

I forget. But i did hear that the new makeover is set for 2010. Im thinking that the coupe is gonna be just like the cabrio. As those two havent been too different in the past... But i could be wrong.

Thanks guys for the responses though! I mean i think i could wait but the main factor here is money. I would love to get a brand new 2010 but the price increase is making me anxious.

Just to mention though, i have found some awesome used minis on Vehix and such, i don't want to go below 2007, but the reason i was looking is that i could a lot more car for my price point.

Jeez! Decisions decisions!

The new Cabrio S doesn't have the chrome gas cap anymore. It has the JustaCooper gas door. Does this mean in 2010 all models will likely have the painted door?

No.

The cabrios have always had the JustaCooper gas cap lid. The roof mechanisms don't allow for the chrome gas cap assembly.

The makeover is going to be a completely redone MINI set to come out late (possibly Fall) on 2010 as a 2011 model. The headlights will be more square and the bumpers gonna get some funky new design. That's about a 1.5 year wait for a MINI. Can you wait that long?

Brocky, that doesn't sound good: Squarer headlights and funky bumpers?!? I like the older forward looking headlights.

I'd be more inclined to get one where the wrinkles are mostly ironed out than one with new wrinkles.

Looks like the new model may not be a coupe competitor.

...there are always rumors of the imminent release of "new and improved" versions of just about every car made. Until you see an official announcement from MINI take any reports of a "major makeover" and a release date with a good deal of skepticism.
