I think I like driving in inclement weather

It's been raining here, and been forecasted to continue, on the eastern seaboard for the past few days. When its started to rain its just continued to want to make me get out there and drive the ol' MINI for some reason. I've always had this feeling, getting and driving around in bad weather, but since its been raining for like three days straight here in the DC area I guess its really brought it out of me. I guess I'm just now ready to openly admit that yes, I love it when it rains and snows and just generally looks bad out because for some reason I wanna get out there and drive around in it. Woops, just remembered how much I love to drive in the fog too!

Maybe I should've been a rally car driver, who knows. I guess maybe I'd love the upper northwest with all the rain we've been getting. Or maybe its the fact that life 'round my way is pretty boring, when it comes to weather, so when we do get a change its exciting. Anyone else feel the same way or is it just me? I'm starting to think its partly because I drive a MINI and I'll use any excuse to get out there and motor

Give me clear, sunny days.

Top down motoring.

More agressive motoring.

Clean car.

I'm guilty too... for some reason I love a good rainy day. And here in the south... it's been nothing but rainy days for a while now.

Move North; if you like rain, you'll love snow in your MINI!

I like to drive my Mini in all kinds of weather, which WI is known for. Mini makes it much more fun!

I remember the day I took delivery of my MINI in March of 2003. It was a 40 mile drive
back from the dealer through the absolutely heaviest downpour I'd been in in decades.
Apart from fumbling to get the defrost on to clear the windshield in almost zero
visibility conditions on the interstate, the MINI did fine in it.
This was followed by several weeks of unusually "British" weather.
I think the li'l bloke was homesick at first and rallied the gods for familiar
conditions.
I like good and bad weather driving in my MINI.

When I picked up my 2003 it was raining and I loved it. I make excuses to go out and drive when it's snowing. It is seriously fun.

I love driving in the rain and snow. I prefer rain and overcast skies to sunlight. My skin is sensitive to UV light, so I have to avoid sunlight, it is stressful. I feel a sense of calm with overcast skies, such beautiful diffused light. But, if it's going to be sunny, it better be high noon with big billowy clouds in the distance - good driving time.

There was a downpour when I picked mine up too, although the deluge made me nervous driving my spanking new car up the interstate.

The following winter, when I had new snows, I used to go out after (during) blizzards and have fun. I've always found for me that what makes the difference between enjoying and dreading bad weather is whether I need to be anywhere particular at a given time...

One thing about the Mini, it doesn't have to be nice out for you to enjoy a drive in it

I like driving in light rain, or driving when it just stopped and the roads are still wet.

Stop sign...turn DSC off.... first gear, floor it. 2nd gear drive normal.

I hate it lol, but not as much as winter

The stock runflats are horrible.. hydroplaning like mad, and slipping on the tar they seal road cracks with :(

And besides hating getting the car dirty (really OCD), dont like all the dirty water going into my hoodscoop... removed for intake

aaaaaand...the wiper settings are horrible to boot lol

To the OP... I don't live too far from you (Fairfax), so I know the rain we've had in the past week. That being said... I think you're crazy

We've been getting dumped on. I've only had my mini for 10 days... but I don't like the rain so much. I've already rolled the windows down on a clear morning, only to take the turn out of the parking lot and have rain from the roof fall onto the inside of the doors. Oye!

Lol, yeah I know Fairfax a little bit, I just graduated from GMU in Jan Funny though, I've had that exact thing happen to me after work and a big rain shower, opened windows make a right and get splashed by the standing water on the roof. Needless to say I've learned my lesson... drive off a little bit and then open the windows

I'm right there with ya polepino! I get a little crazy in inclement weather, especially SNOW. I LOVE snow driving. I make my husband a nervous wreck in GOOD weather, never mind bad weather.

Ever since I was a little kid, I wanted to be a cross-country race car driver - If I could get somebody else to pay for it, a "racing" MINI, and all the gas, I would still consider it!

I'm with you - Other than dealing with other drivers who aren't good at foul weather driving, about the only thing I don't like about driving in inclement weather is cleaning up afterwards... but there are several things I really enjoy that have that in common! Mountain biking, road bike racing, camping... what were you thinking?

I was just out in the rainy stuff this morning. I took the back roads (few cars) to get to my destination so as to avoid the crazies. Yes, there is definitely a different type of charm to motoring in the wet. Frankly, I hadn't thought too concretely about it 'til this thread came up, but now that I have... .

Now that I have the PIAA wipers, driving in the rain is much more enjoyable.

...wish I could get them for the rear wipers, too.
