Pilo Racing new product development - Rear Stress Bar for th
Pilo Racing Announces the First Rear Stress Bar for the Mini Cooper and S.
The Rear Stress bar still allows for normal operation of rear seat. It will also allow you to apply a preload to the rear of the Chassis. This will help stabilize the rear of the car from flexing under heavy stress. The rear of the car does not have as much horizontal Stabilization as the front, and over time, can begin to flex. The Pilo Racing Rear Stress Bar will minimize this from happening, and keep the Mini Tight in the Corners.
The Stress Bar is made out of Powder coated Steel Seat/Stress Bar Brackets, and a Polished Oval Aluminum Bar.

Please let me know your comments and concerns.
Thanks
Dan

That is correct, the Rear Stress Bar replaces the origional Seat Bracket with an integrated Rear stress Bracket/Rear Seat Bracket. The seat position only changes by a little under 1" Whis is not noticable in comfort by my passengers so far.

Very nice, except I have an amp attached to my rear seat back already.
Sorry. I seem to have run out of space back there in the boot.
Can you say how much it all weighs and the cost?
When will it be available?

Lead time is 2-3 weeks. This is in final stages of development, and is just going throught final refinment stages. THe whole thing will way only about 3-4 lbs. As it is made of lightweight aluminum mostly. Price is still TBD. Estimate is 175-200 approx.
I will post pics of the attachment point later on, as I am making some small adjustments to it for final production.
Thanks

Dan,
Excellent new product. It is great seeing people bring new and innovative products out for the Mini.
BTW, I received my Pilo Intake last week, and I love it. Took about 5 minutes to install, and is really a great product, just as good as the other products out there at a fraction of the cost. Thanks Dan.

without going into the supposed need for such a brace, the fact that it mounts so high above the rear coilover tops makes it a less than ideal parallelogram. A simple diagonal addition from one of the ends of Pilo's brace to the bottom other side would triangulate the connection and remove potential racking.

We are already looking into the upgrade of adding the extra piece to stabelize even more. This will be sold as an adon to the existing system to add the triangle to the system and stabelize it down even more.
Thanks

Hey, will you give me 25% off for teaching you how to spell "weigh"?
Seriously nice product. I never liked the fact that the access covers in my Integra had to be cut to accommodate the Neuspeed strut brace. This is far superior. Note that those running SCCA autox STS/STX can only use a longitudinal bar. The triangulated version would not be legal.
Your next innovation should be a harness bar that extends from upper seatbelt attachment points across the car. I had Speedware build one for the Integra in '99 and it made a hell of a difference but getting into the back seat was a b*tch. When my parents came to visit, my mom insisted on shimmying into the back seat under the bar. It was a sight since she's over 60.
Keep up the good work Dan.

Nice job Dan, and good feedback as well. I can say that with the rear seats out, there are some nice threaded anchor points for triangulation. Actually, that was the first thing I thought about when I saw your bar... With the seats in, definitely more challenging. If you or anyone wants a photo of the concave area beneath the seats, let me know... Pictures are jumping through my mind of various possibilities!
Tony,
That is correct, There are some real good Points of Triangulation. These will be where the Bar upgrade will connect to. There is some more design to do for them, but this bar will be the first piece released with the upgrade shortly after.
Thanks every one for the positive feedback. I am trying my hardest to get this set up to be pushed out the door.
Thanks

dan, finally a product i was looking into making myself. i do have a few questions for you that haven't seemed to have been asked yet.
1) can this be installed without the rear seats? as mine are removed since there is no room for rear passengers. if so, how is it bolted on?
2) is this in anyway a quick release bar? so if someone that had needed to remove it to fit cargo, or anyhting big in the rear.
thanx

The bar can be installed with out rear seats.. it just will also allow for them as well.
To your Second question. There are just 2 bolts that need to be removed to take the bar out, but the bracket can stay.
Thanks

There is always a Chance.. I have not sat down to design this yet. Once I finish the rear, then the rear stabalizers, then I can lookinto the front Stress Bar.

Upper.. Lol such a simple word.. but I missed it..
Yes, To finich the Triangulation, it will be needed to be connected to the lower portion of the car.
Those designs are still in the works, and should be release whortly after the stress bar goes on sale..
The Harness bar is still a posibility but would be after the triagulation.
