Excuse the crazy question (assuming its a true Mini exhaust+sound, not some dubbed movie exhaust sound)- anyone know of the exhaust they added in the Italian Job to make the cars sounds the way they do (the 2000 version)?

Saw the end scene last night and was blown away by the exhaust. Anyone know if it was real- if so, what exhaust- or anyone know of a similar sounding exhaust?

you might have better luck asking the r53s... if i remember correctly, those were the supercharged ones

i just realized those were just-a-coopers flying down subway stairs

check out the single offset exhausts

 

two coopers and one cooper s. white and blue one are both cooper. red one is cooper s. also you can only hear the whine of the supercharger in the red one. side markers on the white and blue ones are the standard ones (without the red S).

I wouldn't trust any sound you hear from Hollywood...almost all action sounds are added in post-production and usually bear no resemblance to the actual car in the scene.

 

+1 to Sin Mini, 99.99% chance that sound was added after the fact in post. Even a lot of dialog is redone later.

 

ITA if only some of it was real...

 

you just have to believe... and it is real! close your eyes, and believe.. its real.. and I have an R53, and I still don't know what exhaust it is.. but if this helps, I just installed an Ireland exhaust.. and for what I wanted, its awesome!

 

I too was watching the movie the other night and was trying to narrow down the exhaust sound. Honestly, IMO, it sounds somewhat like a Subaru Boxer engine with that real deep rumble. I dont know if you all agree with me but that is what came to mind with me.

 

All the MINI's in the subway shots were electric anyway. L.A. does not allow any combustion engines in the subway so to film these scenes. they had to create electric MINI's.

I saw it the other night too and everytime i see the movie I just get a big smile on my face. I am not sure if it is because of the MINI's or Charlize Theron thought

I don't know what your talking about but those exhaust clips were straight up imported overnight from Oxford. (like the F&F pun) But if it has one since that movie came out right after the MINI did its probably custom.

 

this might be a old thread but i read somewhere it was dubbed with a sti or something like that, it's dubbed for sure
