Turbo blow off problems

Last week my stock 09 MCS started making a loud turbo blow off noise and i could feel the turbo not kicking in so I immediately took it in for service. But its been a week with no updates and i'm getting anxious, i want my car back! has this happened to anyone with their new mini's? is this a serious problem?

Maybe you gave 'em the wrong phone number lol. I'd call them and ask them what's going on with my car if I were you. A week is a good amount of time to look into things.

my turbo wasn't getting enough oil as there was a leak in the oil line going to the turbo. It sprayed oil all over my Mini's engine, etc.. This is how I picked it up from the factory. I was pretty pissed that I had to pay the mandatory delivery/prep fees and they didn't catch this!!!

In any case, I brought it back after like 2 days of owning the car, they replaced the turbo and lines, etc... I think it took about a week as they had to order the parts.

Since then all has been good.
(they also cleaned my engine really well back to new).

just got the car back today, apparently their mechanic was sick most of last week. I'm not sure if they actually fixed the problem though. Does anyone else notice the blow off noise? Its noticeable over my music. maybe i just never noticed it before?

I have an Alta Cold Air Intake, so yeah I hear it, but that is to be expected. When it was stock I never heard it

It's normal. I can hear it over the stock intake also.

Do you hear this when you release the throttle? Or do you hear this when you are on the throttle?

Well engine light turned on again and I had to take it back this time they finally fixed the problem. Turns out the intercooler popped loose so they had to refit it. I do kinda miss the blow off sound though.

You aren't really describing when the sound happens well enough. Like others have said, it's perfectly normal to hear the diverter valve open. As far as the turbo not kicking in immediately, that certainly could be the stereotypical turbo lag. You can reduce turbo lag with a better downpipe/exhaust and high performance boost tubes.

the problem was not that i heard the noise but that it was abnormally loud which didnt seem right for a stock system also the turbo lag i experienced was about 2-3 seconds long

The turbo lag on the stock Mini should be very very minimal and hardly noticeable (provided you aren't at like 1200 rpm).
