Cleaning M7 STB
Cleaning M7 STB
I installed the M7 STB last summer. It looks like some of the hood liner fabric stuck to it. I used plastic wrap to do the whole molding thing, but I guess the fabric must have still been damp when I took the plastic off the next day. Does anyone know how to clean the brace? I am afraid I will scratch it up.
I tried that. I also read on here to try WD-40. That didn't work either. I don't know if I have some mineral deposits mixed in with the fabric.
I wonder how agressive I can go with any abrasives without damaging the finish.

im not sure wat a M7 STB looks like, but if it's painted
you can try some ScratchX on a foam pad with some
elbow grease.
honestly speaking though, my G runs a $800 titanium
STB by ARC. it has some rub marks from the hood
liner. i think the 'aging' is part of the beauty of having
a nice STB.
woo, now over $900

Maybe a plastic razor blade? That worked on something I couldn't get off my paint once, and didn't damage the finish...I soaked the area in WD-40 and let it sit a little while, and then went at it with the plastic blade and it came right up.
I tried a bit of metal polish on my my black powdercoated M7 STB and couldn't get the whiteish oxidiation off. I didn't want to go any more agressive for fear of changing the finish too much.

I have a car show coming up in a month or so and was trying to get things cleaned up. I may just email M7 and find out if they have any ideas. An aged STB is one thing. Mine is a bit furry looking!
