Drivetrain Cai+Boos Tubes + TURBOback. THANKS ALTA.
Cai+Boos Tubes + TURBOback. THANKS ALTA.
Well i got all my alta mods installed today, took a grueling 6 hours, with the help of my uncle, and 2 of his friends.
Firstly id like to thank adam at alta for the help since i ordered the wrong CAI specs, and boost tubes specs and he was rly helpfull.
My cai came in 1 week after all the other stuff but it was ok since i barely got the time to install.
1 thing though, the boost tubes especially the cold side, were about 1cm 1.5cm short if i installed correctly on the top, so i had to install on the bottom first then on the top and i think it puts the tube under alot of stress since its streched and the motor moves around abit under heavy load.
The other passenger side tube was a PITA but after around 45mins we finally got it off and i made my own Sound generator plug, from another rubber plug that was in the shop.
Is it OK to plug where the sound generator goes, performance wise????
Also, i put a about 1/2inch nut wrapped in electrical tape (to make sure it would move around) inside the rubber plug to make sure the clamp would secure the plug correctly..... here is my question:
Do you guys think that under heavy acceleration the plug might blow out? or possibly the nut get tossed around and make itself into the hose????
id apreciate coments etc, thanks!
ps: the MAF adaptor that adam sent me was a little bit too short for my liking since the hose clamps were put on and barely grasped the adaptor in order to go into the air filter, im gona get a bigger adaptor tomorrow dont worry about it adam (if you were going to)
Thanks guys! and thanks to alta

so what do we do if we didnt get the plug?
also asking performance wise.... does plugging the sound generator produce only noise? is there any bad side effects that may go to plugging this?

All in all I think you'll hold boost a little better.

it would really help if you said what exact parts you got from home depot so all of us boost tube /sound generator canceling NAMers can buy the parts and put em on!.
a pic, or just any advice would be sweet.

Sorry for bad the bad explanation,I went to the plumbing department at Home Depot. I bought PVC reducers and inserted it where the noise generator used to be. At the other end of the reducers I plugged it with one of the plugs that matched the PVC reducer.
After that I secured and made sure all the connections were tight by putting clamps on all of them. (used 3 in total)
It was a year ago so I don't remember the exact size of reducers I used. But if you were to bring the OEM boost tube with you to Home Depot, you can easily find the matching sizes. Hope this helps!

Topmini: THANK YOU for the business and the thanks! Glad everything worked out ok. I believe the BOV plug was already shipped to you and sorry it wasn't in the original shipment.
I will keep you in the loop on the ECU progress, and PLEASE let me know if I can ever help in the future!
Thanks NAM!

i recently installed boost tubes + cai + turboback.
now i did all these 3 at once, and now i get alot of different noises i wasnt able to hear before.
im really doubtful as to know what each sound is.
il take a video and post it later so u guys can see what im talking about.
i had to make up a sound generator plug because it didnt come with my cai (msged adam and one is on the way already)
i hear a kinda of like "suction" sound when accelerating from 2-3k rpms.
after 4k rpm i get a sort of whine noise i dont know rly what that is, any ideas? is this normal?
other than that i thinks thats it for weird sounding noises.

^^^^^ Everything you are hearing is normal. Those the are noises that the OEM components mask, and those masks / mufflers restrict HP and TRQ. So that is the sound of HP!

Actually I followed the old tried and true method when installing software updates/fixes, you install one then run the computer for a while to verify you don't have any unwanted events, that makes it easier to track down the culprit if you do.
Plus I couldn't afford to get all my upgrades all at once
