Looks like we can't get any Saturday in April for Spring Fling, but we can get May 8th. Put that down in your calendars!

Aloha 500 is going back to its original date of November. Sooo, we're looking at Thanksgiving weekend for a 2 day event. There is a little twist as this will be on a Friday and Saturday. HRP is booked up for Sundays. HRP does have someone reserving Saturday and we can boot the person, but I need confirmation that people will attend this event.

Thank you for these dates.
I can make the two day event in November.
I'd have to check the May date for a conflict with a mainland trip but I am definitely interested.
Looks good.
Any other differences in format compared to this past year.
Maybe could you tell us what to expect in a two day event- what do we do each day?

We are talking May and November 2004, correct? Not November 2003, right?

I haven't ironed out the details with Owen regarding the 2 day event, but if it follows the other 2 dayers, this is how it'll play out.

Day 1
Car Control Clinic for the entire day
Skid pad
Slalom exercises on the drag strip
Braking exercises on the off camber

Day 2
Open track for everyone

or

Day 1
Car Control Clinic for the Novices
Short track for everyone else

Day 2
Long track for everyone

For 2003, how's about another island drive? November or December? Saturday or Sunday? Or, it may be an around the island scavenger hunt.

Or we could do MINIkahuna's poker run!

5 stations where people pick up a single card. At the end, maybe the dealership, everyone makes their best hand. Who knows what prize the winner gets!

How's about we hold the skidpad session...uhm...ON the skidpad?

That off-camber is a nasty little turn. My instructor was saying, "in tighter! In tighter!" ... so of course I went in too hot after a MINI thinking I could catch up, hit the brakes really hard on the slick painted portion of the corner...and almost spun the car. Lol.

The Spring Fling was a ton of fun. Can't wait for the next one!

I mean almost. I continued in a forward direction..albeit maybe 30° from my intended course for a second or so. I was pretty suprised that I caught it.

Then you drifted through the turn! I thought you were a racer, not a ricer!

I'm up for any outings and I've noted the two dates for the Fling and Aloha 500. I'm on duty both dates but with this much notice I can try to get covered.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Steve

The thing to remember about any of those turns esp the off-camber is there is a limit and "in tighter" is helping find the limit but once reached be careful. You'll be teetering on the edge with a steep falloff beyond your safety margin. Sounds like you found the edge which is good. Now the trick is to stay inbounds just within your limit.

Beastmaster-
I like the sound of scenario two. Longtrack all day on day two. This simplifies the layout. Once you do the total set up of the areas seems like a lot of time is lost doing the transitions to other activities.

I'd be up for another car rally or other drive in Nov or Dec. I thought the Oktoberfest rally was very good.
Poker run? Good idea. Get there. Pull a card, pick 5 and meet back at the dealership to see what we got.

Will I really get to drive my MINI on a full race course during the Aloha 500 and the Spring Fling? What will I do everyday after that when I do my normal drive to work?
