I'm not sure, I'd like to know too.

I've never been a fan of how the R56 clutch feels. Or lack of feel I should say.

The lack of feel is caused by the dual mass flywheel (DMF).

BMW is famous for using clutch delay valves, and seeing how BMW-ified the R56 is, it wouldn't surprise me if it has one. Maybe I should just go check...but it is a lot easier just to see if anyone here knows. Disabling the CDV's is a popular mod with a lot of the BMW crowd. Improves clutch driveablility greatly.

I suspect there's a CDV in the R56, too. But since I don't see a stand-alone unit, BMW may be building them into the clutch slave.

I was looking on the realoem.com under R56 clutch control and on the clutch line I see what look like a diaphragm, but no label on it and it is about mid way point. I am wondering if that is the CDV. I know on the BMW's they have it on some and you really can't dump the clutch, all you need to do is remove it and insert a nipple inline adapter. May have to pull it out and see if it is a CDV. Hope someone else has already done this and confirmed it.

Also interested in this. I don't know much about CDV's....would it have something to do with how light the pedal feel is? Sometimes I think I could engage the clutch by breathing on it too hard.

It doesn't have one. Drive an e90 and you'll tell the difference right away.
