Anyone running the R56 DoS CAI?

I am looking into the options for a CAI on my '08 R56. Alta looks more like a warm air intake, DDM Race Intake looks promising, but the Defenders of Speed CAI seems the most logical. Pulling cool air from the void below the grill at the base of the windshield seems like a good way to go. It also uses the factory cold air pipe from the front grill.
So, has anyone actually used this setup? Is there any dyno infor on it (seems like Alta are the only folks willing to post dyno results)? I'd appreciate any info available.

Cheers,
Greg

I would not know how it would do against the other intakes but the DoS intake wins my vote for most efficient CAI even though I have the Alta one. If you would ask me which intake I would get thats available right now would it would be the Forge intake.

I have it! I actually really like it! It is considerably louder than the Alta that I ran before, because the void is also where the cabin air filter is located. I think it is a very logical intake, and is really well built! Not to mention, it's sweet looking!! I'm sure gains between the DDM, DOS, and Alta, etc. are all very mild, so pick the one that seems most logical, and you like the looks and you should be good to go.

+1

The DoS unit looks great if you don't mind really hearing it.

If you want to hear it, but only when you really lay on it, the Forge unit looks like a good choice.

But I will add the disclaimer, I haven't tried either!

I went with the JCW because I got a killer deal on it and previously had both stock, stock with an Alta foam filter, and the Alta open air intake. I am not a fan of open air intake setups after all of my reconfiguring, so that is where my recommendations come from

So for the Forge intake, does it use a a K&N type filter?

So I am not sure what to go with now? I was seriously looking at the DDM RIS setup. Now you have me thinking of these two

I think it is a K&N Filter.

The ram air setups are really attention grabbers when the hood is up, but I'm not sure they are necessarily better intakes, at least with stock tuning.

I think choosing based on sound level is a good differentiator. A panel filter in the stock airbox will add the least noise, then next in volume increase would be the Forge or K&N Apollo kit, then the ram air intakes, then the DoS which would likely be the loudest since the sound is being output directly at the interior of the car.

I've had most of the bolt-on modifiable parts swapped on my car and even with everything else (i.e. air tubes, intercooler, turbo or center back exhaust) I still honestly believe even that just a high flow panel filter in the stock airbox is delivering enough air to give maximum available power to the engine, until you start swapping engine internals and turbos. I ran that setup for quite awhile before I found a JCW intake which is still very similar in design, just with a cone filter instead of a panel filter. I've done both autocross and track days and never felt like I had a restrictive intake. That is why I say choose by sound and a design that only draws cold air, don't worry so much about one producing a lot more power than another, because they don't.

Well I found a used Forge intake and decided to go for it. Installed last night, drove around a little. Not much louder then the K&N panel filter i had in the stock setup. I like it alot and the Wife approves

well if it helps, i have the DDMRace intake and am currently selling it for 370 shipped... that's about 100 less than from DDM themselves.. but i've had mmy DDMWorks on mmy car for about a year now... i love the way it looks, it pulls extremely well on the highway. when i had itslast dyno run it was pretty close and consistent to 10whp... if you want pics ill send you some or u can just see some here...

i have the alta intake, i wouldn't recommend it at all because i have had so many problems with alta, here is my thread so you can read what happened, but if i had to do it all over again i would get the ddm ris, it seems like the best setup on the market right now but its costly
