Custom Installed Stealth Passport 9500 ci detector

Hi All...just had my Passport 9500 ci installed professionally....this detecter is awesome....completely stealth....radar and laser....laser shifters.....gps enabled to lockout false signals....red light and speed trap databases....costly but IMO well worth it....here are photos of the screen and module....

Cool!

I bought the same unit but it is still in the box. I plan do do the install myself, but I have been busy with bathroom remodeling and other **** that my girlfriend keeps finding for me to do on the weekends.

I have a couple of questions, if you do not mind me asking:
  • Can you see the LED display where you mounted it?
  • Where did you mount the GPS antenna?
  • Where did you mount the single LED?
  • And most important, did your installer figure out how to mute the radio when the radar goes off?
I ordered an additional rear view mirror from pelican parts with the intentions of mounting the LED display inside the mirror (I plan to scratch a small square of the mirror's reflective from inside the mirror, so the led is visible through the mirror glass).

1. Yes the LED is clearly visible where I mounted it, to the right of the RPM gauge.....the mirror plan is a nice one, i didn't want to spend the extra dollars to do it that way, but that will be a sweet install....
2. I mounted the GPS at the front of the dash, dead center....signal has been perfect, only lose it in tunnels/etc...
3. I did not mount the single LED....this is for installs which do not want to use the full LED. I have the full LED installed per the photo.
4. I did not want the radio muted when the signal goes off. My opinion was that this would be frustrating especially for false signals/cop driving on the road with his radar on/etc....I believe the kit comes with a radio interface that can be used for swapping sound between the radio and detector using the car's speakers. My install has the speaker hidden behind the dash under the steering column. Speaker is fine this way, even when I have my radio buzzing i can clearly hear the audible and voice commands from the radar just fine.
Good luck with your install, and feel free to PM me with any additional questions.
Best Regards,
Mike
