R50/53 Replacing runflats
Replacing runflats
I now have 16'' dunlop runflats, which I would like to replace with 16" non runflats . whats my best choice for sporty ride and long life. I know there must be a lot of better tires out there.
It would probably be best if you have a look in the Tires, Wheels, and Brakes subforum. You'll probably be able to find your answer a bit faster over there...

falken 912
I replaced my tires-of-stone with Bridgestone Potenza G019 Grids and have been very happy with them. They have good marks on the various tire-review sites. Not sure if they come in your size.

When I replaced my runflats I did some research and wanted to get a tire that was quieter, handled well but also could take a light snowfall. I rejected the Falkens because they did not have a good rep for snow/slippery conditions. Now this was not a huge factor because I also have a 4WD, so the issue was just not being caught in a chance snowfall.
The chief draw for the Falkens was that they are relatively inexpensive and so a good product for the $$. I still have some of the info that I gathered and the consumer reports I found on the Falkens 912 were good but I found little in regard to first gen MINIs and negatives in regard to snow performance.

I went with the Goodyear F1 All-season 205/45-17 and am very happy with them but your results may vary with a different size and depending on climate. I also got a $50 rebate and free mounting, balancing and rotating when I bought them so the price differential was ameliorated a bit.

I use Falkens and like them very much. In the winter I use snow tires because in my experiance all non-snow-tires stink in the snow. The 912 is a very good rain tire.

the earlier link i think was for falken 512s. you cant link to consumer reports since they are a pw protected site. you can head to a library tho to find the article. the 912s were consumer reports (said review before by mistake) top pick
