Exhaust Depot fitted downpipe!!!

ive been talking with a rep at exhause depot about getting a downpipe from them that doesnt have to be welded and he took just under a week of working and writes this back to me

Santa came early.

I think i have it all figured out! I had special tooling made so i could be
able to make a connection that fits the stock catback and the invidia. Also
i have a new metalic cat that I had specially made for me that will pass
emissions and also not trigger the CEL light. I expect to have the date
back tonight.

my whole downpipe problem happened because i have an invidia catback and couldnt find an exhaust that has a cat (no on ragazzon) and wont throw a CEL (no on milltek), will fit all catbacks( no on alta) and doesnt have to be welded (like exhause depot's old pipe)

Yeah ive been working on this for some time. YOu just managed to email me a week before I had the item done! I have solved the cel problem with the cats. I managed to talk to a cat manufacture that I deal with who made me a heavy loaded (means it has alot more precious metals in it like platnum etc) metalic superduper highflowing cat.

Ive sold a couple of the long length 3" DP's that replace both cats and have has great success with it. I was just waiting on my special die sets to come in so I could make the funky flange to fit the stock catback etc.

For the most part, if you have a catback that fits the stock downpipe, chances are it will fit the aftermarket DP.

YOu can see how the DP bolts up to the stock piece, this is the prototype, the production one will be ceramic coated so that it keeps the temps inside the pipe yielding in better performance and lower under hood temps.

This news makes me pretty happy. Just got my Helix intercooler in the mail today and downpipe was gonna be next on my wish list. I was kinda hoping to hear something about the direct-fit pipe since Exhaust Depot hadn't posted in a couple months. I was thinking about getting a Ragazzon DP but didn't want a stinky catless system.

I have been waiting for this to come along!! When can we order one? I want in for sure! The CEL issue is what was holding me back, and if that is fixed and I can pass inspections.....OH YEAH!

Yeah sorry for being MIA for some time. I moved my shop from fort lauderdale to Orlando (4hrs) and it was an overwhelming move! Moved up in Oct and was closed for about a month and a half. Had to play catchup on orders etc. So here I am back.

I have a pre-order setup on my site. Those who order first will get a discount. I have to make a jig so i can duplicate the downpipe. Right now the DP is just being abused on like I want it to.

ONce i make the jigs ill start charging the credit cards etc.

Yeah, ive had the CEL issue addressed some time ago using my super-duper highflow cat on the 3" setup. lol. I just had to address the making of a new die so i could make an oem flare so it would be a bolt on piece. These dayum euro cars always make it hard for me to make an exhaust.

This is really exiting
I posted these questions in another thread, so sorry about the redundant questions:

a. Will it work with the JCW R56
b. Any dyno charts yet?
c. If not, what does the "butt dyno" reveal ?
d. Howzit sound?

Thanks

Let me tell you until now, is working perfect without a Cel light, I drove back from Orlando to Miami (4 hrs. drive) with a few pit stop and light whatsoever, Hector will post picture for this piece !!

Downpipe installed on a R55/S with a JCW package

THis will bolt up to the r56 setup. THe OEM downpipe is the same as on the 55. It does not do a huge difference in sound but it does get just a tad louder. There are to many variances on exhaust etc so if you have an aftermarket thats fully open then it will sound louder vs a stock system on it and a JCW i consider a stock system because it keeps the second cat in place and it has girlyman size tubing (about 2.25").

This only replaces the stock downpipe, its not like my longer downpipe which replaces both cats so it will not make the same power. However most aftermarket catbacks replace the secondary cat, that is where the majority of the power they make comes from.

Very interested in this. If this will bolt up to the Milltek, that bolted up to the stock dp, and not throw any CEL's I'm in.

Cheers!

Just so I'm clear, the longer one will offer more power, but does NOT bolt to a cat back? Whereas this new one is a little less powerful, but WILL bolt on?
Would the longer one bolt on to the stock JCW exhaust, or would I need to upgrade the rest of the system. I'm curious because a dp may be my next mod.

Thanks!

Ok check it, Here is a pic of the stock DP and a full 3" unit. On the stock setup, you can see where it bolts up. Well the exhaust is a full one piece unit from that downpipe connection all the way to the back! On the club it goes right to the two rear mufflers.

If you notice the catback portion that was cut has a second cat in teh rear. The miltek, invidia and most of the others bolt up to your stock downpipe. Thats why they make power because they remove the second cat.

Sooo, if you have a JCW setup, then you will make less power than anyone if you leave the secondn cat in place, or you can just cut and put a straight pipe on that second cat. The cat I had developed has enough precious metals in it to clean the exhaust.

Hector - any chance of setting up a group buy to knock the price down a little more? The wifey isn't liking me spending another almost 700 on yet another exhaust piece after I just got her to okay the catback for about the same $.
