Catback exhaust and warranty

I'm considering Alta's new catback for my '08 Clubman. Anyone have any experience with dealer's and warranty issues. Should I just call my dealer?
Any comments on Alta's catbacks?

We've had both our JustaCoopers to the dealership for service since we had the Megan cat-backs installed (and WMW CAIs) and no problems.

I can't imagine you'd void a warranty with a cat-back exhaust. Full exhaust, including headers... maybe. Cat-back. Nahhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Yeah, I don't think a cat-back is going to do any damage to your warranty. A full turbo-back... maybe. But I can't imagine that they could really blame anything that might happen to your car, except great sound, on a cat-back exhaust. All you're doing is throwing on a muffler with a bigger pipe.

Alta makes great quality parts and has spectacular customer service! I wouldn't be nervous about ordering anything from those guys! And if you have any questions or concerns, just contact Adam Taft (ADAMSALTAMINI is his s/n on NAM). He's awesome.

Ask your dealer, it really is the only way know where they stand. Before I did anything to car I discussed it with my SA.

i asked my dealer bf i did my exhaust it only voids your warranty if your engine breaks and they trace it back to your exhaust. so if your engine does break just put your stock one back on.

First of all... I doubt that any real engine problem can be traced back to an exhaust. Second... you'd have to do the full turbo back exhaust to re-install the stock exhaust without any techs noticing.

Well, I can't speak to other exhaust installations, but with Alta you have to cut the exhaust right before the rear most cat, and then you attach the new exhaust with V-band clamps. So to put the stock exhaust back on that means either 1) welding the stock exhaust back on (which will be out of place) or 2) use V-band clamps and some kind of adapter to splice the original exhaust back together (which would be pretty noticeable).

I seriously doubt you would have any problems. I actually had the first Alta cat back installed on my Clubman S and it fit perfect and the system should not pose ANY warranty issue at all.

If you put an alta catback system, the ONLY thing they can void is your exhaust warranty. Thats like DUH mr dealership, i dont have a stock exhaust on.

Yeah you should be safe having a simple catback system on. I have never scene one cause an engine to go. Damaged cats on the other hand I have but thats a fuel issue usually.

Happy boostin.

Did you guys DIY the Alta catbacks? Is it just a bolt on part or am I expected to weld/cut something on/off?

You have to cut a section by the second cat.

Yeah, the rest is a bolt on. You cut the pipe right before cat and attach the new exhaust with the supplied adapter and two V-bands.

Yup the kit is a five piece kit...The resonator, a straight piece, y pipe, and the two mufflers. If you are going to DIY I would reccomend having a second set of hands. I had Alta's prototype kit on my car and put the production exhaust on my car last night. Had to get the Mrs. down in the shop to help with the install. Thanks hun!
