Alta SSK + Craven Speed shift well

So I went ahead and purchased these two items. Low and behold they both came in today.

I emailed alta regarding any fitment issues and they said it would have no issues.

Anyway, the Alta SSK and CS well are not 100% compatible. The spring will not fit over the Alta shifter. I ended up "modifying" the spring to make it work.

Needless to say, I was rather disappointed .

As far as the shifting... its definitely a recommended mod however if you are going for the CS shift well.. go for the CS shifter as well (if you are worried about messing with a spring but its really not bad). It also seems like it would be easier to adjust since with the ALTA you have 3 set screws to mess around with.

I will post pix tomorrow.

Weird, man. I've never gotten anything but great customer service from Alta. But that would totally **** me off, too. Alta does make a kick *** SSK, though. You didn't go wrong there.

So, what's going on with the shift well? Is it working? Does it look or operate funny or something?

They are gonna make a price adjustment to reflect the current pricing... It does pay off to buy from vendors who actively support the forum.

The shift well is working fine, no issues at all beside the install hiccup. Basically the diameter of the sliding part where the set screws go in is too large for the spring. I pretty much unwound the spring so it would fit over and then tightened it up as much as i could. Its not perfect but you cant see it and it works just fine.

The stock **** is hideous and now im looking for a replacement...

Does anyone know what the thread pitch is on the shifter?

I want to get a delrin **** which no one seems to carry.

nope.. it looks kinda ugly IMHO. Id rather save the money and drop it on something either really nice (think whalen) or something cheaper that looks nicer.

That makes sense. I thought it looked ugly on their website, but it's really pretty nice in person, IMO.

how bout some pix?

Their website pix arent very flattering for the ****.

Id really like the Delrin **** from whalen but i cant spend 150 on a delrin **** when i can get a generic delrin **** thats threaded for around 40 bucks.

My fault; I should really get some pics of that "one-off" stuff put on the site.

That particular **** would be $110.00 with a vinyl insert; $95.00 without.

Craven Shiftwell and Alta Short Shift - Photo

I finished the install of my Craven Shiftwell and Alta Short Shifter Kit.
I also fitted a Aspec Titanium Shift ****.
It works, but need some patience with getting everything to slip on.

Here is a photo.
