Any MCS auto with JCW steering wheel?

Any MCS auto owner did the mod? How does it feel without the paddle shifts? Or is there already a JCW steering wheel with paddle shifts that I am not aware?

Would love to hear your feedback. IMO, the JCW steering wheel is the best of all mods.

bump

I would like to know this as well. I want to buy the JCW steering wheel, but the dealer said it won't fit because of the paddles. Could i do this without reinstalling the paddles? I never use them

JCW wheel. Mine's all leather. IMO, the best upgrade as well. JCW shifter is my #2 choice. I've got a 6 speed.

Well... he asked for auto because we have the pesky paddle shifters. I'd bet you could remove the paddle shifters... I don't use them either... they're ugly.

unlikely, due to paddle shifters. I don't think just removing the paddle shifters is a fix. Probably some internal connections/mountings that would preclude this change. That said, I also wish it was doable. I don't use the paddles and like the JCW steering wheel better than OEM.

Wont work. Internals and externals are not compatible. Besides, what's so hot about the JCW wheel?

Well, the grip alone speaks for everything. Its the only mod that you have "hands on" interaction constantly.

The reason I thought it would work is because I thought the paddles were built in to my steering wheel and not the steering column. I guess I was mistaken, what a bummer.

Thanks! The writeup link is below the picture but in simple steps, I removed the paddles from the OEM wheel..just removed the steering wheel, unbolted the paddles, cut the JCW wheel with a knife to allow the paddles to sit flush, drilled a hole for the bolt that holds the paddles in place and you're done.

The hole is not threaded, and really nothing special was needed. The differences between the OEM wheel and JCW wheel are very subtle. The OEM wheel has several molded in channels to keep the MFSW wiring in place while the JCW doesn't. But the airbag plate keeps it all neat anyways. Also the OEM wheel has a hole drilled for the paddles and the back of the wheel is cut out for the paddles. Both easily replicated on the JCW wheel.

Thank you! Just keep an eye on the NAM marketplace. I got mine from there. Also don't be afraid to email any seller even if the ad is old. I was emailing people with ads that were 4 to 6 months old and they still hadn't sold the items yet, so just keep searching.

Just do it. I don't have an auto but the JCW is one of the best steering wheels I have ever felt and I am glad I got it. Also I like the Alacantra more then the all leather.
