Sebastopol - Point Reyes Run 02/15/09
Please join Redwood Empire Mini Enthusiasts on our run from Sebastopol to Point Reyes for a picnic lunch (or may be purchased at Drakes Beach Cafe) and tour of the lighthouse ending in Novato with an optional dinner at Sam's Place with north bay area REME members at 5pm.
The run map is available for download. Please RSVP separately for the run and dinner so that we can let Sam's Place know the number of people to expect.
For additional information refer to the forum n the REME MegaBBS.
See the REME photo album for pictures of a similar run we did in January, 2006.

This is just a friendly reminder, although there are chances of showers, this run is on! Those of you with water tight Minis and those of you with MINIs are encouraged to attend all or just part of the run.
We will be ending in Novato at 5pm for an optional dinner at a very reasonably priced restaurant with home made food like mom makes or use to make. With a 5pm dinner, participants will still get home at a reasonable hour.
We have around 35 cars signed up now and about 30 people are planning on joining us for dinner. There is still time to RSVP for either or both.

THE SEBASTOPOL TO POINT REYES RUN IS ON - RAIN OR SUN
The forecast for Sunday is currently a little grim indicating rain and wind, but as we all know, the forecasts are generally wrong unless reporting for weather events currently happening. In all the runs we have had since October, 2004, I can remember only one with rain.
We will be leaving Sebastopol promptly at 9:30 am as scheduled. When we reach Point Reyes Station, if the weather looks nice, we will drive out to Point Reyes National Seashore for our 2 1/2 hour lunch and walking tour of the lighthouse and surrounding area. If it is raining when we reach Point Reyes Station, we will stop at an appropriate location to relieve kidney stress and continue on directly to Sam's Place in Novato for a late lunch at about 1:45 PM instead of an early dinner at 5 pm as scheduled.
We should have close to 40 cars on the run (unless some flake out due to the rain). For additional Information
So here is what you need to bring:
1. 2-way radio
2. camera
3. copy of the run map in case you get lost (get in the habit of printing a copy before each run)
4. snacks and bottled water in case we don't stop at the lighthouse for lunch
5. cash for meals lunch and/or dinner
I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday morning.
I also want you to put the following date on your calendar:
August 23, 2009 is the First Wine Country British & European Car Show. Our dedicated website is already up and running and if you are one of the first 100 registered, you will receive a free dash plaque. Enjoy beautiful cars, live jazz music, wine tasting, and cheese tasting in the middle of the Sonoma-Napa Wine Country. Advance Registration is only $25 until July 31, 2009 and increases to $30 August 1 and at the gate. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Safari West Wildlife Foundation.

What a great turnout on such a windy rainy day. We had 25-30 Minis depending on when and where you counted. Several of new faces. Dinner/late lunch worked out great at Sam's in Novato. Food was good and so was the service.
Roads were remarkably good considering the conditions.
My highlight was the pounding surf at Drake's beach. WOW the ranger said the wind was 25-30 MPH. With the surf pounding on the beach it looked like a washing machine running with too much soap. Bubbles and foam blowing everywhere.
Thanks to all that made the run. You are all brave souls. Thanks Peter for all the planning. Thanks Jerry for picking a great place to eat.
It was a fun day. Now I have to wash to Pooper.
