Does anyone have any thoughts for events this year? The go-karts last year was fun... Bass pro-shops has a pair of those Nascar simulators. Now that football saturdays are free again, what ideas have folks been putting off for awhile? If I don't see you, have a great year!

I would so love to do some fun stuff in 09. We didn't do a whole lot in 08

I have always wanted to do one of those Nascar simulators. Isn't there a whole Nascar place at the Galleria that has that?

Any other ideas I am up for to. I wanna do more stuff this year

They went out of business. Now, Bumper Nets with some arcade classics and ping pong.

I did the Nascar thing a time or two when it was running. First time I got frustrated and drove around the track the opposite direction doing kamakazi runs.

Is Cheaha a good road for you all? I drove it once and it was a little choppy in places, but fun and tight. My tire sensor even came on a few times (only time ever).

Maybe it would be better to drive before the leaves return? Just4fun, any hope on the big track this year?

I really like cheaha but to have fun & drive it spiritedly makes it a bit risky since it is only 1.5 lanes wide. To be safe I say... just don't be the lead MINI since he is the one who is gonna take the hit

Don't look good for getting on the BIG Track this year but I am up for some fun. You all let me know when and where, I'll do my bestest to make it!

Would it be possible to have a motorcycle with a radio at the lead?

Hey Davavd! I was thinking about our Dragon run just this morning!

Grants Mill road, where the new dealership is going up is a great drive!! Very twisty road. Theres a lot of 2nd gear turns in there... When you get off the interstate go toward the dealership and keep on going down that road. Its one of the most fun drives in all of Birmingham!! That whole area is rather undeveloped, and ends up in Mountain Brook if you head west. If you head east it takes you toward Barber Motorsports Park, and Leeds. If you head south you go toward Lake Purdy, Birmingham's main water source. Speaking of great drives, has anyone heard of 29 dreams?? Its a motorcyclist's favorite...its a great drive..

If we have a Mini owners meet we should go enjoy what we have in common... our cars!!! The nascar thing sucks anyway... I tried it once and go pissed as well by ppl going the wrong way!!

29 Dreams is located on Hwy 25 which is IMHO "the" best twisty road we have available to us in the B'ham Metro area.

Our most common ride that we do involves a meet in Cahaba Heights then drive Sicard Hollow Rd to Rex Lake Rd to 119 to Hwy 25 then take 25 down to a bit past Sterrett. Well we used to that is but we haven't gotten together for a drive in awhile. Hopefully when it warms up a teeny in March we can do that again

I have done Grant's Mill a time or 2 but it is so full of potholes it's kinda hard to enjoy

If y'all wanted to make a trip to the beach I can get a couple of boats lined up and maybe a few other fun things in Gulf Shores.

Well, y'all just let me know a time frame and I see what's going on around then. Wish the Mullet Toss was further away so we could plan. Mullet Toss Mini Cruise has a nice ring to it

I know the Club has a Ride this weekend but

I know on sunday the Club has a ride on Sunday but I wanted to let everyone know there is a event at Barbers this weekend. Indy Car is doing a Three day testing at Barbers Motor Sports park this weekend 21-23 of March. You can get Tickets at http://www.barbermotorsports.com/ . You can use the club code to get 5 dollars off and car club parking. The code is "carclub09".

I will be there all weekend.

I called Bass Pro Shop to get some info about their NASCAR simulators. They have 2 on site. So 2 people can drive at once & each can have one passenger in the car. The race lasts approx 5 minutes & the cost is $5.50 per race (passenger rides free). They are open on Saturdays from 9AM-9PM & Sundays from 10AM-7PM.

Would anyone be interested in going? We could perhaps meet on Hwy 280, do a Hwy 25 run through the twisties then head to Leeds & drive the Simulators afterwards. We could eat too if anyone likes.

If you are interested let me know & tell what dates you are free so we can try to plan something

I'd be up for it! Memorial Day weekend is out for us, most of May is fine.

Bass pro shop has some neat twisties leaving their complex, too. Full of speed bumps d'oh.

Ladybug and I went up to Ave Maria Grotto Saturday and then to All-Steak and thought that might make a good event. Maybe take back roads up there?

Or maybe we could parade our little cars on the little roads of Blount Springs if someone has an "in", and go for Top-hat barbeque? Both restaurants get high praise. Just a couple ideas for group events besides the after work thing.
